Diamond chip vintage ring

Another piece I received from my grandmother but it sadly doesn’t fit me anymore 😢 she said this was made from Diamond chips, I have no idea what that means? This is an heirloom piece, it holds some sentimental value for me, but my grandparents have since passed on and I want it to go to a good new home. Size: maybe 6-6.5 ?? Materials: unknown, diamond and white gold likely. Condition: 3 of the “chips” are missing.
