A little information. The beginning of Mayott's history can be considered in 1895, when young Ashley Mayott entered the firm of George Thomas Mountford as an apprentice, who worked at the Alexander Pottery on Wolfe Street, Stoke. After the death of G.T. Mountford in 1898 James Mayotte, Ashley's father, purchased the Mountford business. Ashley Mayotte, who was 19 years old at the time, became the manager of the business.
