Antique hand crafted porcelain footed compote bowl designed in the very popular style of 18th/ 19th C Meissen, the market leader in hard paste porcelain art tableware & decorative items.
This late 19th century hand crafted porcelain serving bowl was produced by artists from the Moritz Zdekauer factory in Austria which quickly became well known for producing high-quality, hand-painted, gilded Victorian-era decorative wares. Famous for Art Nouveau, floral patterns, and they exported widely, particularly to the Americas.
The Moritz Zdekauer factorywas known for a distinct, high-quality artistic style that often featured lavish, artistic gold gilding alongside detailed, hand-painted warm pastel floral designs. The gold gilding was a part of the artistic creation, not used as mere trim ornamentation. This antique porcelain item is a fine example of the qualities this factory was most famous for.
