A charming and authentic antique oil lamp, likely European (French or German) and dating to the late 19th or early 20th century. This style is often referred to as a Finger Lamp due to its small handle, or a Veilleuse (night light) because of its size and common use for continuous, low-light illumination.
Key Features and Maker's Mark:
Material and Patina: The lamp is constructed of metal (likely brass or bronze) and features a beautiful, deep, untouched natural patina. The separate burner assembly has a decorative pierced gallery, giving it an ornate look.
Markings: The finger loop/handle is clearly stamped with a logo: "MARQUE DÉPOSÉE" (French for Registered Trademark), which surrounds a sun-like symbol and the letters "HB". This is a key identifier for the manufacturer. While "HB" is commonly associated with American maker Bradley & Hubbard, the "Marque Déposée" stamp suggests a European (most likely French) origin, possibly from a lesser-known lighting specialist.
Design: It features a rounded oil font (reservoir) and a low, dished pedestal base designed to catch any oil drips. The burner screws securely onto the font.
Condition: The lamp is in wonderful antique, rustic condition with a stable, heavy patina and minor scuffs consistent with its age. The burner and wick winder are present, but the lamp is sold as-is for decorative purposes or for restoration, as it has not been tested for modern use. The wick winder appears functional.
The overall height is about 3 to 3.5
