This antique hair/hat pin is made of a gold tone metal and comes to us from the early 20th century. The pin has a green "topper" on one end that appear to be made of glass imitation pearl with a lustrous green coating and a floral metal "throne". It is cool to the touch and makes a high-pitched click when tapped. The lack of yellowing and visible seam marks makes a celluloid much less likely than glass, though both were popular in this era. There are sub-surface cracks ("crazing") but at this point, they have not broken through to the surface.
The pin has normal wear throughout, including tone darkening in the metal (including on the actual pin), as well as some marks in the toppers. That said, there are no (surface) cracks, dents, chips, or visible dings. Picture 4 shows a close up of a slight distortion in the glass pearl, but I'm not sure if that was from production or an incident later on. The end of the pin has threading to screw on a cap, but there is no cap.
