A vintage Guiro from Peru
The guiro is made from a large shaped natural gourd (plant similar to pumpkin).
Carved pumpkin mate (from Lat. Quechua – Mati), also called madera (tree) or maderita (tree) have a very long tradition in Peru of decoration with engraving and firing techniques.
This guiro is a professional quality Latin musical percussion rhythm instrument. A unique village work of art that features one-of-a-kind handmade decorative animals and jungle scenery.
Also can work as a unique decorative piece.
Can be used as a music instrument (with use of "pua"- kind of chopstick that also can be improvised from wooden kitchen handles, chopsticks, plastic or wooden dowels) or just shake it for maraca sound.
12 3/4" long and around 3 1/2" diameter (at the widest point).
Excellent condition, few tiny marks the surface. Please review pictures.
Beautiful piece of Folk Art
Can work great as a home décor as well.
