Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe Companion Library Vintage Hardcover 1963
The plot of Daniel Defoe's Robinson Crusoe follows an Englishman who, against his parents' wishes, goes to sea and becomes a plantation owner in Brazil. After a shipwreck leaves him as the sole survivor on a deserted island, he spends 24 years learning to survive, creating a life for himself by building shelter, farming, and taming animals. His isolation ends when he rescues a native man, whom he names Friday, from cannibals, and they become companions. Ultimately, he is rescued from the island and returns to England, only to find that decades have passed.
