๐ Glossy photo of the Andromeda Galaxy (also known as Messier 31 or M31), presented in a black mat (without frame or protective glass).
Photo by Keith Egger, a local astrophotographer who images from a private observatory outside of Prince George, BC.
The image captures the spiral structure of the galaxy, which appears as an elongated blue and orange stellar island in a field of stars. The image highlights the galaxy's bright, yellowish central bulge and its blue spiral arms, interspersed with dark, complex lanes of dust.
Andromeda is the closest spiral galaxy to our own Milky Way, located about 2.5 million light-years away. The two galaxies are predicted to merge in about 4 to 5 billion years.
๐ Dimensions ๐ The frame measures approximately 16" x 12" (40.5 cm x 30.3 cm). The photograph measures 11" x 8.5" (27.8 cm x 21.5 cm).
