Authentic hand-crafted Olinalá lacquer box from Guerrero, Mexico. This medium-sized domed box features detailed rayado incised work with a lively mix of traditional motifs: birds, fish, rabbits, flowers, butterfly-like forms, and small seed-pod designs (a common decorative element that can resemble peanuts). Each motif is carved and painted by hand in the classic Olinalá folk-art style recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage. The wood is aromatic, consistent with linaloe wood, traditionally used for higher-quality Olinalá pieces. The interior is very clean, and the bottom has four soft protective velcro pads added by the original gallery to protect furniture surfaces.
