Vintage Lunch box or picnic basket?

Had bowls and glasses in it, we are leaving them as a kit, round lunch box or picnic basket? Strap snaps into place to keep it properly closed, some wear on the bottom but otherwise looks good. Not really sure what this is but definitely different and cool! Vintage for sure, a show stopper and great discussions lol
