Vintage and very RARE Louis Vuitton umbrella. This is large. Wood handle. This WAS in pristine condition, until I found that my husband and son had been using it, and not gently. My son picked the plastic covering on the wood handle, so now what's left is peeling off and the wood handle is now cracked. mommalaughing @michelleallen yes, it's authentic. All I can tell you is there are exceptions to every rule, including Louis Vuitton and the monogram LVs. These very vintage umbrellas are unique unto themselves.

I looked and looked online yesterday (and have on many other occasions) and I even went to our local library trying to find a book or two with some information to help me research Louis Vuitton and there was NOTHING! I spent three hours there! I thought for sure the library would have something. The umbrellas that I have found online, on various sites like Portero and auction houses in other countries, don't include any history about the items. Simply that they are vintage and authentic. Some of these rare items seem to come from Japan (many of the accessories I've gotten have come from there)...and I suppose these items were not sold here, or sold in limited quantities here...I don't know! I am going to continue searching for info though, just because it's driving me nuts! Also, I have NOT found any counterfeit items made like this either, just so you know.

mommalaughing @pinkylooney i've done a ton of research on this, and everything points to it being authentic. It is an ANTIQUE...predates those "rules" just as with the codes on bags - there were none in the beginning, the guidelines and rules were made as time went on, as needed. So, I'm not sure where you are getting your information. I'll come down in price, but I'm certainly not giving it away - it's very valuable.

richp928 I hate to disappoint everyone, but I have that exact same umbrella. I received it from my aunt's estate. It took a while to authenticate but was determined to be a fake. The major problem is the oval gold name plate. I can't determine from the picture, but some even have a Velcro strap to close it. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but my information was given by several professionals in the industry.
