Our family has been a bit down lately from some bullying issues my son has been going thru due to his Tourette syndrome and then the news about the puppy and we all felt pretty defeated. cocoamy @zeuscat9 our family has been truly inspired by all this generosity. We will let everyone know when we reach the goal and have the surgery. He will be in a cone for 2 weeks and need pretty intensive care for about 4 weeks but we are praying to come up with the $ and I am blown away by your generosity. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I always say " I brought him into this world and he was so happy, and then the outside world got their hands on him and made him ashamed of what never bothered him before." wlew @cocoamy He was a Maltese that had diabetes and they replaced the lenses on his eyes. He did great yes he could see very well! They only did the surgery as they were moving and a new place would of been to hard for him. They did it at Ohio state univ. Very great job!!

cocoamy @wlew that makes me feel better that it turned out well. We checked for diabetes and he does not have it. He is very young for his to happen and we to our going to replace the lenses. I've heard it makes the sight after the surgery better. Otherwise their sight is changed a bit. The lenses are only $150 each eye so that is not the expensive part of the surgery. But we figure if we are going to spend this much we should do it he best we can.

The month during his surgery is going to be rough b/c he will around the clock care. Eyedrops 4X a day. Special sleep requirements. I'm very nervous about that long month but hopefully he will do very well.

cocoamy @lanirichmond thank you very much. Yes, it has been a rough decade. I turned 30 and all hell broke loose. Which is why when we got the news about his eyes we could not believe my luck b/c this dog was bought for me and my daughter to help us both deal with my illness. My daughter was 6 when I sick and over the years started acting out and having problems dealing with a mom that can't leave the house, so we bought her a puppy. Looks like I got her a sick puppy to go with her sick mommy. Gizmo has helped me deal with being ill and he keeps me company when I'm alone so often. That is why I am so grateful to everyone for caring so much. This dog is one of my life lines.

I would think with cooler weather but maybe not. I am hoping with the holidays coming it gets things moving. lmpasternack @cocoamy hi Amy. I am so sad to see this post. I have many dogs and I help a dog rescue as well. I love dogs sooooo much! In case you are unable to raise the money, there is a credit card called "Care Credit" which most vet's accept. They give you a pretty long time to pay off the amount with 0 percent interest. You need to do it in the time allowed or they slap the interest on the entire amount at a very high rate. But I have had mine for 3 years and only messed it up one time by not analyzing my bill correctly. It is a saving grace for me and for the dogs I have helped.

cocoamy @lmpasternack they gave us an application at his appt, but my husband lost his job and we maxed out our cc and ate thru our savings, so we would not qualify. I m in a situation where I am disabled and my family (in laws) members are not in favor of us fixing his eyes. I have a $75,000 hospital bill so they feel that a dog is a dog, and I need to put my priorities In check. Gizmo and his brother Sonny were bought to extend my life and help my children deal with what is happening to their mother. And these two pups have done just that. So for me and my kids the surgery is necessary and we are doing everything to get the $. I appreciate all that every one is doing. And all their prayers and kind thoughts. I'm battling some pretty bad chronic pain right now so I'm struggling to keep my wits about me. Gizmo means the world to me and I am just hoping the work I'm doing is going to pay off.

lmpasternack @cocoamy we need to be friends! I battle chronic pain daily from fibromyalgia and severe arthritis, and possibly psoriatic arthritis. I find that out on Friday. Praying it isn't. But my mini rescue of 7 dogs ARE MY KIDS!!! They are not JUST DOGS! Never in my life have I felt that way about dogs. I have loved them my entire life, from the time I could pet one. Gizmo sees his specialist the end of Dec and we will be making a decision about the date. I am hoping to be pretty close to having enough. I have about $1400 now and surgery is $3900 approx. I still have a ways to go but the closer I get the better. I am hoping they say I have until Feb to do surgery but if they say it has to be done now for it to get best result we will take the $ we have and see what vet can do for us. My husband and I talked about him not having a car anymore , he's thinking about, or forgot about it? He's the greatest man I feel so bad this is happening to him. He fell last week, and I didn't hear him and in the morning his head was all bloody.. Awww poor guy! Your hubby sounds like a sweetie and you are an angel for all that you do for him and for people like me. It's so hard when we need to make choices in everyday life b/c we are sick. Gizmos surgery will most likely be beginning of Jan. his appt to see where he's at is Dec 27th. I'm very nervous about it b/c it will be a rough month. He will need round the clock care all month and I'm getting nervous about the risks from the surgery but when u have no choice you must take those risks. He's been so super cute lately, it's hard knowing what is happening to him. He has been trying to rub the bind spots of of his eyes and it's really sad to watch him. cocoamy @sheerglamour he is doing well although we have to go for a check- up very soon and I'm worried he may have a infection I one eye which they warned us about so I'm concerned and my daughter had surgery on the 27 th BC they think she has the same disease I have so things are crazy right now. I pray there is no issue with his new eyes, well his fixed eyes. Thank you for the concern :-)
