This corset is truly amazing. The boning is cording, rather than sprung steel or whalebone, in keeping with the "new" corset of the 1890's. This is in fabulous condition, very strong and wearable, with no problems, other than some wear to the long lace used to lace up the back. Even this is usable, as is seen in the photos. This piece is of such quality, it should be in a museum, but it's sturdy and stylish enough to wear.

onceuponathyme@jezabelinhell Isn't it a dream? I can't wear it anymore. I had quite the corset collection before life happened to me ... This is the best one, I think - although I have a silk ribbon corset from probably the mid-1800's that screams "I was a saloon girl, but now i'm gettin' married..." that is pretty fabulous, as well ... :-)

I had an antique store for 30+ years with a vintage clothing section ... and was a costumer for theater even back then, so I have WAY more vintage than I know what to do with. My last feature had a ballroom scene from the 50's with about 60 extras I had to costume, so . . . I'm ballgown central these days. :-)

onceuponathyme@birdynlucy I think this might be my best historical corset. I also have a silk ribbon corset . . . looks like something a high class saloon girl would've worn - that's lovely, and an authentic black waist cincher that I believe is mid-Victorian. Both are fabulous,but ... this has an Elizabethan "taste" to it, even though it's clearly NOT Elizabethan. I love the patina, the bone buttons are brilliant, all the various lacings . . . just all of it is delicious.

onceuponathyme@sisyphus_7 That's the wonder of this . . . It's PERFECT. Not even a button missing. I don't think it was ever worn. Even the coloring is completely even . . . as though from air, not from skin oils. Of course, this is some kind of cotton/linen/hemp fabric, rather than the silk ribbons that make up my other favorite, but this one is in better condition. I don't think I'd try lacing the laces tightly, though ... the lace is the only part that seems a bit weak to me. Fine for just lacing it up, but it wouldn't do for tight lacing.
