talk2usoon AUTHENTIC DOONEY & BOURKE BAGS 101 Here is your quick checklist on what to look for in a Dooney & Bourke bag! If the bag has a buckle it should say 'solid brass' on it If the bag has rivets they should say 'Dooney & Bourke' Your bag will be made/assembled in one of 4 places ~USA (stated on red/white/blue D&B label & sales tag) ~China (black or white label) ~Italy (ALTO bags~stated on leather label) ~Assembled in Mexico (on leather label and sales tag if attached) The bottom line of the 'D' and the center line of the 'B' connect EXACTLY (this is for bags with D&B logo on them i.e. IT, quilts & signature) The 'D' & 'B' will go both frontwards AND backwards on all collections showing the DB signature EXCEPT for bags from the 'Large Quilt' collection. 'Large Quilt' collection bags have the 'D' & 'B' facing frontwards ONLY and 'quilt' lines that run diagonally between each set of initials. If the bag has feet they will be in an even number (i.e. 4 or 6 feet. ONE EXCEPTION, some vintage bags have 5) All bags WITH LINING will have a 'Dooney & Bourke' leather label SEWN inside (NOT GLUED!) All bags have quality stitching! You will NOT find a first quality, authentic Dooney with crooked stitching or a needle hole with no thread! If the bag has a duck, the bill will be detached from it's body *EXCEPTION* East/West FLAP bags will have a SOLID duck on the medallion that the leather strap goes through! (no eye, no detached bill) Charms/'fobs' are ALWAYS connected with leather! (Either a leather strap connects it to a handle, or a small piece of leather will connect it to the zipper! You will NOT find a 1st quality authentic Dooney with a charm connected DIRECTLY to the zipper, or connected with chain!)

talk2usoon @ihikezions - I found better info via youtube but here's something to start with: Knowing FAKE PRADA from REAL PRADA explained! Published by 123collectables123 Believe it or not it is pretty easy to make a fake designer bag and its actually pretty easy to tell the real from the fake if you know what to look for. Please remember that not all things I list well be present on a real prada bag, different styles may have these things differ from one another, but most are usually consistant. Make sure when buying a prada bag off an online auction or website that it comes with certificates of authenticity and/or atleast some type of serial number you can look up from prada, if some of these thing are not present. So here is a list of what to look for in a real prada bag: 1) look at the prada name on the emblem, look at the R in prada if the right leg on the R is strait-- its fake, if it curves in --its real. 2) the background of the prada plate, usually should be the same color as the bag. 3) The metal on the bag even the buttons should be engraved with the word prada. 4) the tag inside the bag must say PRADA MADE IN ITALY exactly. 5) The lining should say prada going horizontal all over it ( For example: Prada~Prada~Prada~), its Pradas signature lining that is used in most of their bags and the fake bags well have something that looks like it but it wont say prada! 6) It should have a serial number from prada and come with authenticity tags and a dust bag (please note if someone is selling a used Prada bag and all 5 things above are present but they do not have the item number, authenticity tags, or dust bag ask questions about where they bought it from, some people dont keep those things after buying a bag)! Look for these 6 things and if all are present then you are good to go with your new authentic prada bag!

369 Please help me! Im not sure if a juicy purse that i just purchased off of here is real or not.. The tag is bright pink, at very top there is a J then under it says juicy couture and under it says have a juicy day with hearts on each side of have a juicy day also under that says love G & P ... Ive looked up and its says new tags are like this but its supposed to have sticker with numbers in side of this tag and it doesnt ... Is it possible that previous owner just took the sticker out?? In curious because i was told that this purse was authentic

talk2usoon @369 - Hi there, sorry you're having those doubts. It's the WORST feeling. That said, I wish I had some info I could give you. Juicy just happens to be a brand that I am completely unfamiliar with. If you still have doubts when the item arrives, I would refuse it as not being authentic. That way, it gets sent to Posh and they can make a ruling on it. If they find it authentic you will have no choice but to accept the item. If they find it a fake, the seller gets a strike against their account and you get a complete refund. Good luck!๐Ÿ€

The YouTube videos really dont help much tho ๐Ÿ˜•

jjhight @melissazoeller No apology needed! I looked at your closet and saw that all your other DB items were 100% AUTHENTIC, so I knew you had no idea the wallet was a fake. I am a vintage DB collector and I comment on fake DB's NOT to protect MYSELF, but bc I hate to see unsuspecting buyers taken advantage of. I did not mean to be rude, I honestly just get tired of the time it takes to fully explain what makes it a replica because there are SO MANY FAKE DB's ON Posh! Ugh it's frustrating!

ses54 @talk2usoon What about Coach bags? I see so many in here with all kinds of price variations for the same exact bag! What's the best way to tell a fake Coach?
Oct 25Reply
ses54
ses54 The reason I ask is I had several willed to me in a family estate, my mother in law who passed away with cancer, God love her but she did a lot of her shopping at Neiman Marcus & Nordstrom's living in the St Louis area. I've thought about listing them but without knowing I don't want to list a fake one or a real one & get railroaded Bc it's authentic either! They have been in storage. So I need information. ANY to give me? Thank you ๐Ÿ˜Š
Oct 25Reply
talk2usoon
talk2usoon @ses54 - best way is to google the info - it changes somewhat based on when the piece was made. If the price sounds too good to be true, that's the most telling feature of a fake. You can photograph the labels and tags & show them in your listing(s). But it's really positive feedback on sales that gets you the furthest on Posh.

reader113 @jjhight Thank you for sharing all your knowledge! I have been on the hunt for my first D&B vintage bag. Iโ€™ve wanted one for years!! Iโ€™m an obsessive researcher & I still havenโ€™t bought one because I keep being skeptical of all the listings. Today, I found one I was 100% sure was fake...the girl had a screen shot of the EBay ad she got it on was the first odd thing. I saw straps that donโ€™t have a slit to remove them. I questioned it, in a nice way, and she thanked me & removed it!

Jul 19Reply
talk2usoon
talk2usoon @sekelly81 @sekelly81 if you bought the bag on Posh, you need to open a case. You might want to check with a retailer first to see how many numbers are currently on those tags. This post was written in 2014 & perhaps the numbers ARE 9 digits now?? Heading to bed itโ€™s nearly 1am here ๐Ÿ’ค

heatherann923
heatherann923 Hi there! My aunt gave me a vintage dooney backpack to sell and I wondering if itโ€™s authentic, I donโ€™t want to offend her by asking. But as a reseller I am having my doubts. It has no tags or serial numbers inside and the exterior zipper seems low quality. Thereโ€™s no markings on any of the metal robots. The interior is lined with a material that feels like a dust bag. The leather duck logo patch is as you described to be authentic. If you can give any advice Iโ€™d much appreciate

celtglass
celtglass I keep running into sales that say No registration card. and no Dust bag. They are relatively new bags, some with tags. Are these fake?
May 06Reply
talk2usoon
talk2usoon @celtglass - not necessarily in a gently used bag, but Iโ€™d question missing paperwork & dust cover, in a bag listed as new with tags. Itโ€™s the identifiers that cannot be removed that I look to most.
May 06Reply
celtglass
celtglass @talk2usoon Thank you, sometimes they are listed as NWOT. I checked every bag I have purchased, and there are three suspicious bags that did not come with any dustbag or registration card. The told me they were QVC display items, but I am now going through the bags with a fine tooth comb and will report any I believe are fakes. I once purchased a vintage bag that looked fine, until I pulled at the duck logo and it came right off because it had been glued on. My money was refunded.

celtglass Thanks for all your help with this. You are performing a great service for all of us who love Dooney and Bourke bags but don't want to be scammed. I thank you.
May 06Reply
talk2usoon
talk2usoon @celtglass - You are most welcome! Itโ€™s so easy to get caught up in the excitement of a great find - only to get stung by an unscrupulous member. I have never heard of the QVC display bag explanation. Very clever but false. D&B has no reason to cut corners. I hope you are able to authenticate your purchases!!

rachelkeefer I bought a black tote at a thrift store. It has a light tan tag, not a white tag. Serial number is J15477584. Do they sometimes have tan color tags that say Dooney and Bourke, Inc.
