Lately I've been coming across many ladies on here trying to sell fake naked palettes for authentic prices so I decided this post was necessary. Every REAL Naked palette has a serial number on the back of both the palette AND the box. For the Naked 1 this serial number will be on the side of the palette because of the velvety material of the case. If it doesn't have a serial number, it is not authentic. Also, all of the eyeshadow names should be perfectly centered and clearly printed.

jmencek There will also be a difference in the boxes as shown in the first picture. Please be careful when purchasing Naked palettes on here and do your research if you're not sure. You can google "naked palette real vs fake" to get more information and make sure you're not paying for something authentic when the item is fake.

laceys89 I have a naked 1 palette that I got awhile ago, I don't even remember where, but there is no serial number on the side of the palette and I no longer have the box. Does it 100% mean it is not authentic if there is no number on the side?

jmencek
jmencek @laceys89 I guess it would depend on where you got it. Is there a serial number on the brush? You can also look at the colors and compare them to a palette that you know is authentic.

laceys89 Thank you for replying! I actually didn't like the brush it came with I use other brush sets when applying my eyeshadow. I'm not trying to sell the palette I would just like to know for my own peace of mind. I know the non authentic palettes can have harmful chemicals

jmencek @linzeeloo the palettes don't have numbers on the back right side? I'm not really sure why that would happen because I've bought mine from Ulta and they all had the numbers. Did you check at another ulta?

jmencek @linzeeloo This is just what I've put together to help others and I'm sure there are exceptions. I have naked palettes that are directly purchased from Ulta and they all have serial numbers. However, I do think there could have been a mistake. I think your best bet would be to compare colors, swatches, and pigmentation. So if it looks and feels like the real one then I don't see how it wouldn't be. I don't know if that made any sense lol.

selling_n_fla
selling_n_fla @jmencek - thank you for this information. I also got duped and after a looking at a few more Utube videos, the biggest difference on the palette I recently got from @sessie13 was no serial number on the palette, the Trick color is not even close to the original Trick and the brush fiber are black, not a brownish color and compact. Lesson learned!

selling_n_fla
selling_n_fla Good news! After I made mention of this to the seller, she promptly refunded my money. She didn't realize that it was counterfeited. I honestly believe there are many of us who don't realize this while they are some on Poshmark knowingly selling counterfeited good. I applaud this seller!

marinka2006_1
marinka2006_1 @linzeeloo I have purchased things that weren't authentic at Ulta AND high end department stores. I think people buy authentic and switch for fakes at home and return. Keep authentic for themselves at home. I was furious when I figured it out. Now I am just more careful. Hopefully yours is real and was just a misprint! Good luck 😘

nikki8787 @jmencek what is the serial number ? How long or short is it ?
Mar 30Reply
jmencek
jmencek @nikki8787 that's a good question. I'm not really sure. I assume it varies from brand to brand since every palette should have a serial number.

ohbabyitseva
ohbabyitseva My palettes do not have serial numbers on the palette but on the brush. Both were purchased at Sephora. It must depend on the year you bought the palette. Also, another indicator of an authentic ND palette is the side writing on the spine. The name urban Decay will be upside down.

freya088
freya088 I bought a jeffree star cremated palette and when I received it it was fake. The pics in the ad were of the real palette but what I got was so bad it was comical! Shade names were misspelled (DEAEH certificate instead of DEATH and even the word palette was spelled PALLTTE) The seller was forced to refund me The fakes are not supposed to be sent back but instead destroyed On e-b-a-y the sellers name is beauty_kart. Please be careful Thank you so much for this post bc it’s helped SO many of us♥️
