No they're in loops so they can't pull apart and there's no damage cuz I've only worn it twice for short periods of time and I took good care of it :)

@kking22 I'm 5'3 and it passes my butt so I'd say it would be the same on you just a little shorter but probably still past your butt. I bought it loose cuz I think it looks cute from behind with shorts
