leoninus @snowyowl91 That's what it is, it's acrylic nails. Polish doesn't chip from it like it does on natural nails. Since your nails are quite short they will glue on a tip and then apply the acrylic. The have colored powered that ends up appearing like polish and is more expensive. And they have expensive gel polishes. But you can old school it like I do and insist on regular acrylics and take your own polish.

leoninus @snowyowl91 I did my own acrylics for awhile, it isn't technically complex but if you have difficulty nearly painting your own nails I don't recommend attempting it yourself. Just grab your favorite polish, go to a nail and tell them you want a full set of regular acrylics and that's all you want.

leoninus @snowyowl91 Regular acrylics. If you take your own nail polish they will paint them for you, or you can choose a color from their selection. Since you're unaccustomed to long nails I recommend no more than a centimeter above your fingertip. After they cut the tips down they can file a little more off if they're still too long after they apply the acrylic. Just go try it. Drive down there now and walk in.😉

leoninus @snowyowl91 If you soak your nails in it it will remove it. But you can remove polish with it just fine. When removing several layers of very dark polish I've felt the acrylic softening but it's thick enough to not be a problem. I've used it for at least 25 years without issue.
