These days, it seems we are all touched by cancer in some way or another. I lost my mom to breast/lung cancer, and two friends to colon cancer. I also have three brothers-in-law who are fighting different cancers...and so far, winning!
On June 26, 2015, I lost a really close childhood friend to breast cancer, after she painfully fought it for seven long years. In honor of Karen, I bought this kate spade necklace for myself and our group of friends who went on "Girly-Girl Trips" with Karen. The back of the necklace describes her best, "ONE IN A MILLION!"
I remember one of our friends in the group (Kathy) saying, "Oh, this "K" necklace works for me, too!" Sadly, six years later, she died from liver bile duct cancer (aka, cholangiocarcinoma). ๐ช So, now there are four of us friends left here on Earth, cherishing the great memories of the others. โค๏ธ

@oliviagrace58 Oh my goodness, I'm so sad for your loss! Our stories are so similar...our group was made up of six of us, who went on trips together. They truly won't be the same without Karen! Keep ahold of all the good memories of your Karen! :)

@lorielle913 My mother has been battling cancer for the last year. She has ovarian and uterine cancer. She had surgery in Jan2016 for hysterectomy In April she was told there was no cancer but in June she got scanned again and now the uterine cancer has spread to her liver. I pray everyday that she can beat this. Such a beautiful story you told. My heart goes out to you.

@klyon98 So sorry to hear about your mom! I know what you're going through. My mom had a very rough life health-wise. Before her cancer, she had a heart attack at 53! I miss her and Karen so much. Just got together with my girlfriends last night. Wasn't the same without Karen, but we had a lot of fun! Sure she was watching and laughing just as hard!๐

I am sorry to hear about your losses and its great to hear about the ones that have beat it and are winning. I've been down that road myself just not that many times. I was diagnosed with Cancer 12/27/14 and went through treatments and as of 3/5/15 its been in remission.

@myselftime Amber, sorry to hear about your diagnosis, but glad it's in remission! Be strong and it will stay away! Best wishes and have fun poshing!๐

@laneygregg Thank you, Laney. So sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Hang in there, I hope you beat it! Just had a 3D mammogram yesterday and I'm going to get BRCA test to see if I'm carrying the gene. My sister is not, but she said my brothers could be because our paternal grandfather had breast cancer! Both sides of the family, yikes! Cancer sucks.๐ฃBest to you!๐
Aug 23Reply

laneygregg
@lorielle913 the 3ds r much better, i think. I will keep u in my prayers. My grandmother and my uncle(her son) both had it and died and now me. A male getting and dying from breast cancer is almost un- heard of and unfournately it raises the risk for u. I will be praying for u. Plz update me. Take care of yourself and thanks again.
Aug 23Reply

on13thstreet
@laneygregg Hi Laney, I have to go back for more images, but not urgent, so it's probably fine. Can't get the BRCA test until November, guess it's a pretty popular test. Hope you're doing well!๐

Thanks for shaing....I was diagnosed with breast cancer 2 years ago. All who fight are true warriors.
My best to you and those you love.

@caseyd0703 Hi Amanda, sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Keep fighting! I just finished with my testing, went on to have the other mammogram; they did an ultrasound that day, too. Then had me back for a stereotactic biopsy. The results were benign, thankfully, but they want me back in 6 months.
Oct 10Reply

caseyd0703
@lorielle913 Make sure you stay on top of it! I never in a million years thought at my age I would be diagnosed. I never thought I would survive chemo. So many I nevers but I did! Living life with a new perspective! Be well!
Oct 10Reply

on13thstreet
@caseyd0703 Thanks, funny thing 2nd mamm was for left, then ultrasound and biopsy were for right, said left was OK. Wondering if anyone ever gets a second radiologist to look at images. Since early detection is key, just makes me worry.
Oct 10Reply

caseyd0703
@lorielle913 And mammograms just don't cut it anymore, especially if you have dense breast tissue. Ultasounds are the way to go! I had a mass that seemingly developed overnight. Cancer is the worst and best thing that ever happened to me! Be well, girl!
