menageatriceHey there! Congratulations! I found Masters work sooo much easier than my doctoral, and my Masters was at Smith, so that says a lot! So you have my compassion. I was working on my PhD AND my DMA, so after 5 years of coursework and passing my writtens, I got sick and never got to finish my orals and four more concerts. Doesn't matter, I still taught at some awesome univ and colleges. Where are you studying/teaching? Best of luck to you, you're almost there! (BTW, my name is Patrice).

I was set to defend my dissertation proposal in April but was so depressed and anxious I wasn’t able to make it happen (although it did, and I passed in October- currently getting my IRB approval to conduct my research!). You got this too!!!! You can do it!

ceruleancafe@emi_bear_23 I hope you have an engaged and attentive committee. Make them earn their keep! Stay in close contact with all of them. They know the rules of the road but might not reveal them to you (for any number of reasons), so ask them. I’d love to know the topic of your dissertation—when you have a moment. You’re getting closer and closer to the goal! You can do this; just look at what you’ve done thus far! 💕🌷💕

emi_bear_23@ceruleancafe gah don’t even get me started on my committee! I’ve had so many people come and go. I just re-formed my committee for the sixth time in five years. Its been such a nightmare. I’m going into year 6 (which, if everything goes as planned will be my last) and I feel like I’ve aged 30 years since I started 😂 the stress and anxiety has been unreal. My husband is such an angel- he’s the reason I’ve gotten this far to be honest lol
