Hi, the medium laying flat from armpit to armpit is 16 inches. The large is 18 inches across armpit to armpit laying flat. Hope this helps!

Yeah depending on your size the large would be a 36-38 bust size. It has some stretch to it.

Medium measurements: Length of front 26.5 inches, length of back 32 inches, bust laying flat across about 14 inches.
Small measurements: Length of front 26 inches, length of back 31 inches, bust laying flat across 13 inches.
Large measurements: Length of front 26.5 inches, length of back 32 inches, bust laying flat across 15 inches.
Hope this helps! They all are very close in measurements.
