lisalandish
lisalandish I had the exact thing happen to me on Friday of this week. My Daughter was with me and said "MOM this is such a scam!" This is the whole Nigeria money scam but with very high end purses. WOW was she right. Same person! She gave me the line that she was at work and wanted me to e-mail her too. My Daughter's husband is a Police officer and he said with all of that information that she requested from you, if provided would be financial/Identity theft and more!
Aug 10Reply
designerattire
designerattire @lisalandish It had a red flag once I got the response from the person. I am glad your daughter noticed it. Poshmark has to warn Sellers about these incidents.

lisalandish None of these people are alone. They are cowards whom want to send their own currier to your physical address and rob you blind or worse. They will take anything that can be sold on the black market. Including children. My daughters husband is reporting this to his Sargent. It is a start.
Aug 12Reply
designerattire
designerattire @lisalandish that is very scary. Glad your daughter husband is reporting this.
Aug 12Reply
lisalandish
lisalandish I may need your permission to let the investigative team contact you only on posh. They are from Fresno PD. My daughter said the letter posted would be just perfect. Did you speak with them on the phone at all? That would be a number we would be critical if you had phone ID. I will keep in touch.
Aug 12Reply

designerattire @lisalandish yes I will be fine in corporating with the investigation. I have the email from what the person sent.

skittlesnjack
skittlesnjack This is all so scary!! I have had a few people ask me to email them about an item and then give some excuse as to why they can't buy on here. Sometimes less than ten minutes later their comment will be deleted so it only makes sense that they've deleted their entire account. It's very scary and I do feel as though it's a group of people scamming or trying to. I haven't replied to these people lately other than occasionally saying I only sell through poshmark.
Apr 03Reply
skittlesnjack

Apr 03Reply
lisalandish
lisalandish This was reported to Poshmark, and they did post a SCAM WARNING, but that does not mean it is not still going on right now. Just be careful, and do not trade off line or conduct in person business, give your phone number or personal e-mail out to those whom make offers or comments on an item. That's the follow up for now. If any new SCAM comes up I will keep posting. Thanks for your follow up❤️.

littlebit986
littlebit986 Do not buy anything from this lady @pinetreeparadis She will lie to you and waist your time. i inquired about an item she had listed for months i asked if she could let me know asap since i was under a time constraint. she said she had to check with her husband to see if she could sell it and told me to give her 3 hours to give me an answer. well that answer never came, she never bothered to respond. she deleted the listing, i reported it to posh. she probably never even had the ring.

designerattire @littlebit986 That is a disgrace for someone to waste your time. I know myself when people have questions I usually responded quickly to them if I am home or give them a time that I will be back home and answer the question of the item. I know we are all busy. But that is not right of someone to waste your time when you are interested in a item. Yes the world is cold. But the best thing is he around people who are positive and lift you up.

And clearly they don’t live in the states. Why did they ask for my address and phone number to send me a so called check. I was like nope. Talking about they will have someone pick up the coach wallet from me lol that’s not how this site works! And they deleted their posh mark account after I emailed them.

Nov 23Reply
lemonflamingo
lemonflamingo @andreaesivbekpe I responded to the email and explained that I will not do business this way and to not send me anything. They tried to act like they weren’t a scammer to get me to change my mind but I was firm. If they send u anything take it to authorities. But they left me alone. Since then I have had the same response in 4 more of my listings n I reply that I don’t do business outside of Poshmark guidelines in the message spot and ignore them.
Nov 23Reply
lemonflamingo
lemonflamingo @andreaesivbekpe Keep an eye on your credit for a while but nothing ever happened and honestly I think they r just trying to launder money this way. I don’t worry about it. I doubt it’s got anything to do with identify theft bc they wanted me to cash an 8000 dollar check and give the money to someone else and keep 50.
Nov 23Reply
isabelxxduarte
isabelxxduarte @kellyshoemak717 omg this happened to my mom she got the same exact email! But she gave him all her info! What should we do?
Dec 02Reply
lemonflamingo
lemonflamingo @isabelxxduarte I did originally. Then I figured it out. That’s when I responded to them with the email and told them not to send me anything and I wouldn’t do business that way. I reported the user name to Poshmark but they use a different user name pretty much every time. Honestly I wouldn’t worry about it and if they send her anything tell her to just send it back refused or take it to the authorities and let them handle it. I
Dec 02Reply
lemonflamingo
lemonflamingo @ really don’t think it has anything to do with identity theft, it sounds more like a way to launder some money. Just keep an eye on the credit for a while and make sure nothing odd is happening with any of her accounts or credit cards.
Dec 02Reply
isabelxxduarte
isabelxxduarte @kellyshoemak717 Okay thank you so much! It scared me so bad that a guy like that could have our address and all of that! I’ll definitely keep an eye out for weird activity.

divadiana
divadiana @_erh_ This is an example of the email scam I was talking to you about. I went ahead and reported the user name account to Poshmark with a note that they tried to get you to take your transaction off of Poshmark and that they requested for you to email them. I hope this helps you out. It’s sad that there are scammers out there like this.
Dec 03Reply
divadiana
divadiana I was greeting a new Posher, and I was sharing her listings when I noticed that under one of her designer bags that a woman by the user name of janetH445566 asked her to email her. I warned her about a possible scam, and I reported the account to Poshmark as someone requesting a transaction outside of Poshmark. Thank you for posting this example. I am going to share this with her.

still_there There is a seller that says she has people's identities and has been accused of selling fake items not as pictured, then blocks the person when confronted about it...
Dec 29Reply
still_there
still_there I have seen other accounts with her photo and she allegedly refuses to refund for the fake item prior to passing off her buyer and then blocking them.
Dec 29Reply
designerattire
designerattire @still_there oh wow that is terrible
Dec 29Reply
still_there
still_there @designerattire she just scammed someone by selling her most expensive item...an imitation of a bag that wasn't as pictured. She refused to refund it and said she wasn't responsible, then she blocked him. You could ask him.
Dec 29Reply
designerattire
designerattire @still_there that is crazy. Poshmark needs to have a fraud department so it won’t happen
Dec 29Reply
still_there
still_there @designerattire it's our word against hers. She used to be employed as a manager to a residence where unwanted employees could open doors and enter rooms. I'm missing things like a Ralph Lauren micromink blanket and I would not be surprised if she put it for sale on this. She is crazy
Dec 29Reply
designerattire
designerattire @still_there that is very sad person to do that. Maybe file a small claims complaint against her.
Dec 29Reply
still_there
still_there @designerattire I have tried to have her served with civil court papers and she was evasive twice.. She was the one responsible for all of my money being withheld fraudulently and I have to keep trying.. sad is right!
Dec 29Reply
designerattire
designerattire @still_there very sorry you are going through this. So many dishonest people :(
Dec 29Reply

Dec 29Reply

Dec 29Reply
still_there
still_there @designerattire the one that says not for sale that appears when you initially make an account. Meet your posher other... That isn't there, probably so people couldn't send her comments about some of the things she did
Dec 29Reply

still_there It's odd the way one love note to her looks a lot like her, I don't know
Dec 29Reply
still_there

Dec 29Reply
still_there
still_there I don't know but this is why we need to be cautious.
Dec 29Reply
designerattire
designerattire @still_there yes whenever someone wants to buy off a selling site you know it is a scam
Dec 29Reply
still_there
still_there I think you know too when other people directly tell them she didn't sell original items and they don't have any receipt and refuse to refund even after they offered to mail it back, like I've seen.. she has over a thousand items for sale currently.
Dec 29Reply
still_there
still_there @designerattire she couldn't produce a receipt for one item that was "purchased from a reputable store"
Dec 29Reply

Jan 04Reply
designerattire
designerattire @ktaylor40s no it is not normal at all. It would be like going to a store and the customer saying that to retail worker. They are scammers. Ignore all of them and report them. Take a screen shot like I did and share it.

mirage50230
mirage50230 I just posted two high end dresses, but I went through with the sending of the fake checks so I could bring them into the police. 4 different accounts with the same picture inquired about one of the dresses and I recorded each one. Poshmark doesn't seem to have near as much security as Letgo or eBay, this is bordering on dangerous
Jan 07Reply
designerattire
designerattire @mirage50230 it really is. eBay or letgo would flag or would be aware of any situation so quickly poshmark not so much

Jan 20Reply
sunshinehr
sunshinehr @designerattire they didn’t ask me for that.. so I didn’t give it.. what should I tell my police??
Jan 20Reply
designerattire
designerattire @sunshinehr I think the police really could not do anything. Pretty much someone who is scamming is not near where you live and live across country. Yes it is scary at first. I was in your shoes when this happened to me. These scammers scam 100 people or more a day. All they are looking for is a bank account.
Jan 20Reply

charleevollmer So I had this happen and I responded with my email and address and such.. when the ‘check’ gets here, do I just bring it to the police? What can they do with it? Should I be worried about being robbed or killed or something?
Jan 25Reply
designerattire
designerattire @charleevollmer sorry that you had this happen. I honestly believe these scammers would not send a check or they do not even live near us where we live in the country. I would take it to the police and see what they would say. But I even think the police could not do anything unless they had evidence of anything to harm you. Poshmark needs to have more control of this. But my own rule of thumb if it does not sound right I will not respond and never respond off site.
Jan 25Reply
cbchou
cbchou @designerattire why would anyone be writing to someone’s email. All transactions would be kept through Poshmark
Jan 25Reply

hsimplyposh It should be a red flag when a scammer wants your personal information, to sell outside of poshmark? Here is my suggestion, give a name, first name should only be a letter with any last name, i.e.( P. SMITH )provide the address of a POLICE PRECINCT AND their phone number. (You can also report certain types of scams and fraud to federal enforcement agencies. ) This will no doubt send a clear message to the scammer. There's no FREE lunch!

ranjen617
ranjen617 Just saw a pile of these on Movado watch listings. Sellers are falling for it as well, unfortunately.
Mar 01Reply
designerattire
designerattire @ranjen617 poshmark needs to be held accountable. They need to tell sellers about scammers. I am in what I shared about the email that I got and it is showing up for people to be aware. But Poshmark is where we list and sell and they need to have a section of people being fraudulent.
Mar 01Reply
ranjen617
ranjen617 @designerattire I totally agree with you. I just went online and found some more and shared those as well. It's terrible over on the watches. Not to mention I'm pretty hot about having to wait two weeks on a fake Dooney I received the other day. Seller tried to turn it around on me. Didn't work, but PM in return has me to return to seller. If you could only see the pics of it, total fake and she can relist. Found a few soldier uniforms on here with brass still on them.
Mar 01Reply
ranjen617
ranjen617 @designerattire Ran out of space. lol. They need to have us to send these items straight to them for them to authenticate and decide to slow the fake trade and govt issued uniforms out.
Mar 01Reply
designerattire
designerattire @ranjen617 sorry about the fake Dooney. I know eBay has a a section and would unlist a item if they know it is fake. Poshmark is not so much. Uniforms what kind of uniforms?
Mar 01Reply
ranjen617
ranjen617 @designerattire Yes. Thing is the seller only lives maybe 40 minutes away from me as well. Ugh. I'll watch for it to relist to save another. Yes, they do have departments that help. I'm going to use my safer method of paying from now on. Army and Air Force uniforms on here. I'm a child and gf of soldiers and asked about them, they said all patches must be off. Not the case here though. Patches and medals are a direct violation Wang I'm thinking names as well, I'd have to ask about those.

kelyking i have to return an item that was expensive and completely misrepresented. it was broken in several places literally a piece of junk. but in her pictures everything looks good. but I can't get ahold of anyone at poshmark...this worries me because I only have 3 days
May 30Reply
designerattire
designerattire @kelyking it seems like the postal service damaged your item along the way. You should get your money since it is damaged and same goes with the seller since she mail it off and once you mail a item off your item is out of our own control with the postal service unfortunately

bribri_alb
bribri_alb I'm new to posh and a similar thing happened to me. the person asked for their own moving company to come and pick up the dress I was selling and I believed her and right before the movers were expected to come, she said they got in an accident and she needed her money back. I sent it back to her and told her not to contact me and reposted her to poshmark. if I took even a second too long to try and reply back she got angry.
Jun 01Reply
designerattire
designerattire @bribri_alb anyone asking to speak out from poshmark is a scam. Sorry in what happened to you. But trust your guy. Never speak to anyone off any selling site.

libra2626 @heathereberger long story short she sent $1200 instead of $160 and im supposed to send the rest of $1040 excluding my product price to her daughter with her purchase. Idk what to do honestly. What do i do with the check? And what if she ends up reporting me for keeping her check??
Jul 19Reply
heathereberger
heathereberger @mfarrr032 I just Watched a YouTube on this. Don’t cash it bc it’s fake and the money will be taken from your account when the check is found to be fraudulent. Call the bank where the check is from. And don’t cash. Did she tell you she was going to send you that much?? Idk what to do.
Jul 19Reply
libra2626
libra2626 @heathereberger okay i’ll make sure to call the bank once I receive the check. I listed my Gucci scarf for $110 that i apparently had to ship to her daughter. But then she said she also sent her daughter’s monthly money in the same check by mistake so now i have to ship her daughter the scarf and her share from $1200. It’s nuts lol

highskies0 @ardenisab Do not conduct any business off of Poshmark, Even if they ask you to refuse every single time and only sell stuff through this platform do not exchange information or talk thru email or phone. I understand that the Poshmark fees can be a lot but you pay for the safety and assurance.
Jul 28Reply
highskies0
highskies0 @ardenisab Unfortunately what is done is done just take this as a learning lesson to never do this again. I never suggest giving out your address because I have been told that human traffickers will use whatever social media platform they can for targeting victims. And besides that people are always trying to scam people for money. If anybody is demanding more information from you that is immediately a red flag. If anybody asks me to do business off of Poshmark I instantly blocked them.

oliviaw2 Oh wow, I received a similar comment on one of my post this week..how sad and scary! Thank you for bringing awareness to this, your post actually showed up when I googled Poshmark scammers. I definitely felt like the persons comment on my post was a red flag, after they commented, i immediately went to their profile and the person uploaded a fake image off of google for their profile pic, and had random images of clothes that were most likely google images as well .
Aug 05Reply
designerattire
designerattire @oliviaw2 it is very scary and I am very glad that you have found my post of scammers beware. As sellers and buyers we have to all think logical. Does this sound right of someone wanting to take business off another site? If anyone really wanted to buy a item they would submit a offer and not want someone to email offline. We all have to be aware and protect ourselves.

Aug 10Reply

yesilavin @kandyk372 i don’t understand either. Idk what they can do with a physical address although it’s scary for someone to know your address (but it’s googable anyways) - my advice is to keep reporting them. malshimommy
malshimommy there are scammers like the posting similar messages on poshmark listings for LV, Chanel, Gucci, all kinds of designer brands. it's always someone wanting to be contacted outside of posh and I see tons of them on accounts that are selling tons of LV knockoffs. I hope posh actually does something with law enforcement to help stop it.
Nov 28Reply
designerattire
designerattire @malshimommy i agree. Now I have poshmark given me notifications of what is knockoff and what is not by my own approval. I should get paid by poshmark. I know what is fake and what is a scam a mile away and poshmark needs to have more security of what people post and have more filters.
Nov 28Reply

cjjcaswell
cjjcaswell I just got three on items I listed just now. Within 15 minutes, I had three offers. Two of them for more than I requested. They want to use a cashier's check for payment.
Dec 15Reply
designerattire
designerattire @cjjcaswell you need to report them and ignore them. State that you only have customers pay through poshmark not offline
Dec 15Reply
cjjcaswell
cjjcaswell @designerattire How do I report them? I just sent them an email that I am not going to accept payment outside of Poshmark.
Dec 15Reply
designerattire
designerattire @cjjcaswell I think you can click on their name to report them to poshmark

faega I’m new here and gave my address out twice, you guys what do I do. I can’t unsend an email. Eventhough iv searched do I block them?
Dec 19Reply
eodwyfe
eodwyfe @faega i went ahead and told them that i reported them to Poshmark and also my local authorites, after that they left me alone and i have cameras here in my house too. So block the phone # and email as well and they should leave u alone.
Dec 19Reply
cinnashop
cinnashop @faega if you communicated with them through email report them for fraud & if the check comes just rip it up and throw it away. they won’t do anything with your address because they live in Nigeria. If you have any other issues let me know I know a lot about these scumbags.
Dec 19Reply
faega
faega @eodwyfe thank you so much love this is so terrifying
Dec 19Reply
faega
faega @cinnashop how may I report them for fraud ? Tried reporting them on yahoo. I reported them on Poshmark. Hopefully they don’t do anything with my address oh gosh I have siblings
Dec 19Reply
faega
faega @cinnashop are they all from Nigeria ? Wish I could post the email on here too.
Dec 19Reply
phuongdang216
phuongdang216 @faega I dont think thet can do anything with our phone number or address (I am not usually pick up straighters and I have camera around my house). If you recieve any checks from them, just cut it and throw it. Hopefully more people know about it, I was so bad yesterday when thinking about that stupid thing lol, but I am good today since I believe they cannot easy use address or phone number to harm me.
Dec 19Reply
cinnashop
cinnashop @faega I’m not sure how to do it on yahoo but I would google “how to report a yahoo account for fraud.” Google has a form you fill out to report them. & yeah I’ve been in contact with more than 5 of them and they all use VPN’s to make it seem like they live in the states but they don’t.
Dec 19Reply
cinnashop
cinnashop @faega I convinced 3 of them to send me a pic from their phone and it shows they live in Nigeria. I think some of them live in India too. Don’t worry they won’t do anything with your address, they only need it to send you the fake check.

Dec 22Reply
sonoio
sonoio Oops sorry. I posted a reply when I just meant to scroll & continue reading this thread. If you’re worried that they have your name & address, don’t worry. They just want money. The scam: when you agree to cash their generous check and give your item away. After you give your item to the scammer you learn from your bank that the cashiers check is forged. The (fake) $1,000 check they sent for your $400 purse and the $500 cash you gave to their delivery person is their goal.
Dec 23Reply
sonoio
sonoio Also if you deposited the check it will bounce. It’s fake. Don’t spend a dime. The worst thing is a bank fee for the bounced check. Don’t give them your item, don’t give their delivery person a dime. They will move on. If you gave them your item and cash for the overpaid check, you lost to the scammers. Report scammers to PM

katiegirl222
katiegirl222 Hi! It might’ve been answered already, I apologize in advance if so but I recently had someone ask if something was available and she gave me her phone number to text if it was. I figured it’s a scammer but it doesn’t sound half as bad as some of the comments I’ve read here so is the phone number thing real for some of you that feel comfortable or is it what I thought, a scammer? Sorry if this sounds silly but Thanks so much!

Jan 10Reply
_jennychuuu
_jennychuuu @giascloset863 I’m so sorry that happened to you! :( it sucks that people do this! If you sent them your address and phone number they can’t really do anything with that information so you should be fine! Did you happen to deposit the check to your bank account? This happened to me before where I did deposit a check and I just called my bank to let them know it was an act of fraud! Basically your bank will just cancel the card or account and you can open a new one! :)

Jan 14Reply
designerattire
designerattire @ivansell Poshmark should do something. Since I have posted this on here so many people have been asking me in what to do. Honestly I wanted to be aware. But people who work for poshmark need to have a higher level of security of notification of people pretending to be someone else. It is ridiculous. Glad you did fall for it and glad my post helped you.

gloss_71
gloss_71 I am new to PM and already got 4 scam messages from people who want to give me more $ than asking, they'll send a check etc. I feel so dumb but I gave the first one my address and #. When I figured out it was a scam, I told them to forget it, and they sent a msg with a weird phrase that included "kill you there." I am scared and also so mad. I've been contacted by more scammers than regular people! I want to quit and feel like the work I have done so far to make a nice closet has been a waste.
Jan 17Reply
designerattire
designerattire @gloss_71 do not give up. You do not want these people to make you scared or for you to give up. Then you are letting them win. There are many good people who buy in here and sell on here like myself. If it sounds too good to be true and they want to make a transaction off the site. Ignore them and report them to poshmark. Also someone trying to scare you. They can really not do to much to you.
Jan 17Reply

fedinaj
fedinaj @lemonflamingo Not sure if it’s too late to answer you but don’t do anything. This scam is used mostly on new sellers and It’s not to get your info but to make you send someone your money. They will send you fake check for amount much higher than the cost of the item you are selling and then will tell you that they made a mistake and ask you to transfer the difference to the third party . The crazy part is that that person very often is someone they are scamming as well ( not their accomplice) .
Feb 20Reply
lemonflamingo
lemonflamingo @fedinaj they asked me to cash a cashiers check and give the extra $$ and the item they were buying from me to their third party person lol. I said yea no. Lol. But they got my email and I’ve had nothing but JUNK and virus emails ever since that I just delete. Never had that before. Super annoying. I warn everyone I see these on to not answer and I report them all as transactions off posh.
Feb 20Reply
fedinaj
fedinaj From what I heard about this scam you are ok unless you did transfer money or wrote a check for that extra amount they sent “ by mistake “ because that check will bounce and you will be out of your own $. And these scammers are very hard to catch unfortunately. So you are going to be ok if you did not deposit their check or send the amount they asked to someone else
Feb 20Reply

jacelinescloset Hi do you have advice on scam buyers? There is an account that just purchase my Gucci ring but I am unsure I want to ship out because it won’t go to Poshmark HQ first. I don’t want the buyer (who has no reviews or transaction history) to purchase from me and do a switch on me and take my item and have their money refunded.
Feb 24Reply
designerattire
designerattire @jacelinescloset if you feel like this person has scammed you. Cancel the order and do not mail out. Make a new listing and say in the listing that you want buyers to have ratings before they make a purchase and no sales off Poshmark.
Feb 24Reply
jacelinescloset
jacelinescloset @designerattire Thank you for writing. I still have the item so I haven’t been scammed yet but their profile says from 2013 but no reviews from transactions and no listings. Is there a polite way to ask someone to verify who they say they are
Feb 24Reply
