Hello everyone…I’ve missed you! Been gone for a bit. Turns out I had breast cancer and had a double mastectomy. I’m good now though. 80 lbs lighter so there’s the silver lining. 😂 (the boobs weigh 10 by themselves!!) Just trying like everyone else to make it out here! I’m Lu. 🤗🤗 I'm a 16 year meningioma brain tumor survivor (see pics…it was the size of a lime behind my right eye!), I have fibromyalgia and I just survived breast cancer. I've been fighting Fibro since I was 12 (which at that point I thought it was really tough), now 32, and over the past year and 1/2 my health has greatly started decreasing and with 3 kids and a wife of a railroader there have been times I didn't know if the strength I had was going to be enough. But each day I look at 4 for sure reasons to fight and always find a new one!! Stay strong 💕

But, when you have no choice BUT to be strong, you find out just how awesome you are! LOL!! We got this babe....we rock! Just think of it this way...we had kids right? We endured that pain. luturnbull@alopez1342 well the type of tumor I had wasn't cancerous, thank God! But it was the size of a lime behind my right eye. Right frontal lobe of my brain. So far no reoccurrence!! So I'm extremely lucky and everyday is a gift to me. 😁 But sister, you and I both are fighters! We just rock don't we??? 👍🤘🏻

luturnbullI developed mono in 2008. Never really got over it, but it got better. In April of 2009, I started having migraines that were unbelievable. They weren't your typical headache though. They were more like pressure headaches. And my field of vision would close in when I stood up from a seated position. Doctor prescribed migraine meds and they didn't help. ....cont....

luturnbullThat was August 17, 2009. I had surgery September 29, 2009. 7 1/2 hour surgery. Thank God it was a benign tumor, but that's a relative term. It had gotten so large that if it had gotten much larger, it would have killed me. But the tumor was made entirely of estrogen and progesterone. I had taken shots for a decade for endometriosis. They think that's how the tumor developed. So any women out there who read this, PLEASE watch the length of time you are hormones!!!! ...cont...

luturnbullThe last thing I ever expected was to be told I had a brain tumor. Trust me! LOL But I did. And the neurosurgeon told me I could have had it for 20 years! Meningiomas are slow growing tumors. They only are found if you become symptomatic because you'd never know they were there. I would just chalk up my random issues to nothing. But the symptoms progressively got worse and worse until finally I had to ask for the MRI because I know my body and I know when something isn't right. ....cont....

My symptoms It started in this exact order one after the other: 30lb weigbt gain, red rash on nose that lead to severe acne, a staph infection feom acne (due to low immune system), and now my hair has been falling since 2 years ago. ..⬇..

bippitybopshop@luturnbull Then horrible pain in my neck and right shoulder that goes all the way down my right arm. It's CONSTANT. MRIs done, but nothing showed up. Nerve study shows nerve problems in that arm. Blood work all normal. Sent to a Rheumarologist and she says Lupus and Arthritis are negative. Endocrinology says my thyroid is fine. They have no idea what's causing all this to happen. So frustrating! 😔

When you mentioned your symptoms the first thing I thought of was Lupus. But you tested negative. Hmm. Whatever you have, it's definitely autoimmune. Ugh. God love you. I feel for you and can relate. At the time, I was at the height of my career. I was an office manager/escrow officer for a title company. The mono took me down, however. I was down 2 months from it. But somehow, I just couldn’t get myself better after that. I constantly walked around feeling like I had the flu....

Went to the dr, and he said they were migraines. So I was prescribed meds and was told to go home and rest to get through the recurrence of mono. I did that. Didn’t help, and the headaches got progressively worse.....

The meds weren’t working and my headaches got to be intolerable. Went back to the dr in August. Told the dr these weren’t migraines, something is wrong and could he do an MRI on me. My birthday is 8/15 and the day before my birthday, I had it....

luturnbull@p_joyceschoices That afternoon I got a call from my dr. He told me I “had a mass”. I knew it somehow. Immediately scheduled me with my neurosurgeon. Got in to see him early September. Dr. Tullis (I call him my superhero because he saved my life) operated on me 9/29/09. 7 1/2 Hour surgery. The tumor was a meningioma. Size of a lime. So after a couple of months post surgery, I still had issues with flu like symptoms....

luturnbull@p_joyceschoices Found a rheumatologist who then diagnosed me with fibro. It all made sense once I got the diagnosis. I had been through so many test prior to knowing about the tumor but everything came back fine in my blood work. It was a relief actually to get an actual diagnosis and know I wasn’t crazy. 😂😂😂😂 Since then, I’ve just learned that I have a “new normal” and try to push through as best I can!

Technically, it was a benign tumor, non-cancerous. But anything that’s growing in your body that isn’t supposed to be there to me is a cancer!! I’m so sorry you deal with brain issues too. I’ve had it for over 12 years but my more debilitating condition is ME - Myalgic Encephalomyelitis more commonly referred to as chronic fatigue syndrome. I’ve been struggling with it since my first occurrence with Epstein Barr mono at age 13...so 26 years now.

luturnbull@jenshufo You know what? I find it interesting that you had mono as well. My whole battle started after having 2 bouts of it in 2008 as well as 2009. They found the tumor, but then I developed fibro. I’m thinking that the Epstein Barr virus sets off mono and chronic fatigue. I’ve heard others say the same thing.

I also have fibromyalgia, Lupus, sjogren’s syndrome, and the list goes in, I’m sure you all know the additional complications that accompany fibromyalgia and any other autoimmune disease. I was denied disability because “I do not look disabled”, but I can’t work so I hope to raise some money while doing some much needed spring cleaning. cle957@luturnbull I agree on zoos, they are fun no matter your age. My husband and I love them too. We took our kids a LOT! LOL. Omaha has a nice one. Our favorite in the Midwest. They also have an aquarium at their zoo which is really fun too! 😀. We will have to put the one near you on our list to visit. I have family that has a second home in that state too so good reason to go sometime.

cle957We have beautiful weather here this week! We have the windows open and ai was able to take care of some things outside..weeding, etc. So nice to spend time outside and not sweat to death. 😀. I start to watch my little granddaughter a couple of days a week this week. I look forward to it each year! I am so excited. I am making plans for little outings each day, craft projects, etc. Hehehe

We are bracing for the big heatwave that is supposed to hit tomorrow & stick around for awhile. Figures it would happen right when we planned a little trip to Chicago with our kids. resale4you5 years ago I was having to stop 3 times climbing our staircase of 14 steps... totally winded. They first thought it was asthma, but my breathlessness continued to increase with meds. Long story short, at some point an unknown virus had damaged my heart. It damaged small section of my heart and reduced hearts pumping ability to point of needing transplant or ... pacemaker / defibrillator. I received 2nd option... thank you Lord! 🙏🏻

It stinks so bad when an attack hits you out of nowhere, right? Just BAM! I get it girl. I’ll tell you what though....cbd has been a great help for me. I’ve been trying it for about 2 weeks now and it seems to calm me down. You may want to look into it! ❤️❤️❤️

calderwood4LOVE your store. Found it today. We have a similar story. I had a rt front meningioma, size of a racquetball removed on 5/5/09. All was good until it began growing a few years later and I underwent radiation. They(whoever they is) missed the tumor bed and radiated my frontal lobes for 5 hours. Now I have a new personality 💥, and epilepsy! And no filter. Anyhow. Loving your store❤️❤️
