Typically when things have a bit of room on you I go with the small- and if they are tighter I go with the medium. Is there a big difference between the two or is it only 1/2"?

Question, I purchased both the grey and tan in a medium and they are great quality but I think I have a little too much booty which leaves a bit too short. Any way if I shop back to you, I can exchange for a large. They fit but I'd have to wear leggings as they are not that long on me. If not, I completely understand!
