In 2012 Betsey filed for bankruptcy and was bought by Steve Madden. Authentic items will not be shipped directly from China. Leopard print tags are a sign of vintage but also of fakes. No sticker/residue = fake; no matter the tag design. Fakes have the signature heart so don't use only that to tell its authenticity. Betsey doesn't use trademarked designs except for Trolls which is/was an exclusive line for Macy's. No leopard tags found at major retail stores.

runwythrftshop @treasures2u I've been in contact with them as well. They sell bulk wholesale to retail/department stores or licensed wholesalers only. They don't distribute directly from warehouses overseas. All retailers buy directly from Steve Madden and have the same tags. Leopard print is a retired vintage tag.

vichp55 Well, it's happening. Fakes are being sold with the white/pink tag. I saw the moon/star earrings (2 styles) with them. Same day, saw the earrings marketed as another brand...LA Eye Candy, I think. Keep reporting!

runwythrftshop Potential buyers, please ask to see the retail sticker side. Most Betsey come in collections such as Dark Shadows, Dark Forest, Sea Excursion, Candyland, Enchanted Forest, etc. It's all cute until you spend $35 on a fake item that can be bought on eBay for $2. Most of the fake items come from eBay sellers in China and listed as unbranded.

swanstar @treasures2u thanks. The eBay inventory isn't exactly fake. When Madden bought out Betsey they sold off all the extra left over inventory to sales in China. ( since that's where she had it made in the past) So it's not that it's fake, it's just clearance from years ago. Just FYI

runwythrftshop @hmurawski4 Most of the fakes are the cheap Betsey being sold on ebay. If you look at the 6th picture in this listing you'll notice the fakes chain. Most fakes use that chain type. If the back of the jewelry has the laser cut outs it will always be in the shape of hearts. The only trademarked characters used is Trolls. Minnie, Hello Kitty, Cola, etcetera are all fake. If the picture looks like it belongs on ebay it's most likely fake.

mgilmon @hazelmist621 95% of what I have posted I’ve purchased myself from Macy’s, the other 5% were gifts, and it all comes in a box with no cards or tags when my Macy’s packs it. The earring card I put all the earrings on is for display for pictures only. Super aware of fakes as I shop online a lot and I see ads pop up and immediately can tell the different. :/

nairb879 l did a live chat on Betsey Johnson website a couple of weeks ago to find out about the real factory watches. The pictures on the site are the way they come. Some sellers of NEW fakes are using the sites real pictures then inserting an actual picture of what they have with the time all over the different times. Check it out for yourself.

clunkybear Love this site. Many sellers on PM lie when you call them out on authenticity. After hearing excuses from some PM sellers, I just talked to Betsey Johnson Co. They confirmed NO lower price point lower quality but still authentic line, Nor do they license anyone to produce cheaper versions. At this point I think there is more non-authentic than authentic Betsey Johnson being sold on Poshmark, unfortunately.

bigfootshoes12 I sell genuine vintage Betsey Johnson jewelry and it DOES have leopard print tags. They are old, but genuine. I see that you do state that some vintage does have the leopard tag. But some people have accused me of selling fakes because they have leopard tag (ignoring that vintage does have the leopard tags.). Will you repeat yourself in this ad that 'vintage Betsey Johnson jewelry does have the older leopard tags', so it is not missed by readers?
