Terrific matching pair of large buttercream Bakelite dress clips. Carved with a lovely vine leaves motif. Naturally, they cannot be exactly alike and there appears to have been a slip of the knife on one leaf (see last pic). An original flaw which endears these to me even more. Unusual S curve. Clip marked "made in USA". A generous 3" long & 1" wide. I read that this color was called "creamed corn" in the 30's. These are in superb vintage condition and are ready to be proudly paraded again.

vintage2classicWhat do you think these were used as? Shoe clips, hair....? The slip of the knife does make them more precious!

Jun 27Reply

roxychicago@leviya I think they are dress clips but my Mom wore them as hair barrettes in her big perm hair in the 80's.

Jun 27Reply

vintage2classic@roxychicago ohh, and even in the 80's, these were vintage. See, she was ahead of her time, wearing vintage then.

strangebirdsWith a name like creamed corn, maybe these are ears of corn instead! 😆

roxychicago@ayomasu I love how you think! Great idea. These are dress clips, or perhaps shoe clips. I have worn them as barrettes but earrings would be fabulous!
