Svelt! Vintage Black Velvet Dress w/ Silk Taffeta flower petal skirting along the bottom, plunging V-neck w/ built-in breast cups, zip-up back. By Wilson Folmar, for Edward Abbott, New York. Form fitting to showcase a small waist and hourglass figure i.e. Marilyn Monroe. Worn by Jane W., a late 50's Revlon Girl model. I wore it in a short film and to various clubs, art openings and operas. Has some signs of wear, but the nighttime occasion dress is still beautiful!

psoup451 Hi Gabby, Thanks for your interest in my vintage cocktail dress. It's an awesome piece. I could wear it at 49, but not at 51! It dates to about 1955/1957. After that Wilson Folmar left Edward Abbott to start his own design house. The label also fits that time frame. The sleeves are designed to sit near the edge of shoulders and it shows a lot of back. That cameo kinda frame of the bosom and shoulders ya see in old films of the late 50s/early 60s. Cheers! Amy

psoup451 @lindas152 Thank you kindly for your question. It was tailored to fit an old friend who modeled Maybelline and Revlon. It’s a custom couture item. I was only able to wear it when I had my art school body, as in starving artist! Hahahaha! There is about a half inch of material seam overlap, so there is some room for alterations. It’s a great piece w/a Marilyn Monroe shape that accentuates the hourglass figure. (No I didn’t have the boobs & the waist! I wore a padded bra to spoof up the girls! )
