Got gramma home from nursing home wed, which was a chaotic mess to get house ready now w/ hospital bed & all the safety features she now needs so get her home & i havent slept! Its like having a newborn all over again she cannot b left alone for 1 sec!

bean5669 @eyecandybydidi She throws her pills up in the air, tears her diaper off & rips it up into a million pieces, washes her hands w/ toothpaste ...then to top it all off she climbed OVER the bed rail fell on her hip & i had to call ambulance at 5am! Lucky she didnt break it so shws fine we're back home but man oh man its exhausting...

I knew at first it would b nuts bc shes confused & in new place & its alot but wowwww this is insanity! Anywayssss LOL we'll get settled got VNA & slew of ppl coming this week to help w/ showering & therapy & such but i hope it calms down a lil bit bc i am whooped!

bean5669 @eyecandybydidi yes its all just crazy out of whack for her & us...i care for her all day during day, we wont have nurses actually care for her bc its just dementia from stroke & assisting her w/ things nothinf medical so she doesnt qualify for like hospice nurses but the aides will come in 2xs/wk to do hygiene etc & then physical & speech therapists come in to work w/ her, my mom takes the evening shift &

eyecandybydidi @bean5669 Will it get to the point where you will have to put her in a home? I've heard caring for Alzheimer's and dementia patients can be extremely difficult. Not that it can't be done of course but I know it gets to a point where they have to have constant supervision.

Usually I have at least three elaborately carved pumpkins and decorations up a week before Halloween at the latest and I didn't even get one pumpkin done because the last weekend before Halloween that we are supposed to go pumpkin picking it was a monsoon 6 in of rain in one day flooding everywhere and had no time LOL and after Halloween the holidays just come before you know it

bean5669 @eyecandybydidi the thing is is that it's too early to diagnose the dementia but the neurologist thinks that it may just be stroke-related and once her brain heels the confusion and disorientation may disappear in 6 months to a year so there's no way to really give a good prognosis that's why we didn't want to put her in a facility until she's done rehabbing and we have a better idea of where she's going to be long term

bean5669 @eyecandybydidi if in 6 months she still has the same sort of Dementia or worse then we have to reassess with the neurologists because it may be more of a long-term declining situation but it's better to have her home the doctor said with family because that will help her brain heal as far as her memory and confusion and disorientation so this is best case 4 her recovery

bean5669 @eyecandybydidi I'd rather try this now then putting her in a facility and giving them all her assets and then having her come out of it in a year and being stuck in a place where she doesn't need to be at least this way we can sell her house while she stays with us and give her time to recover and then assess the situation and maybe she can go into just an assisted living facility instead of a full Care Nursing Home

I just know when it comes to those situations it can be harder or dangerous sometimes but that's also with full on dementia or Alzheimer's too. You are definitely super woman girl!!

bean5669 @eyecandybydidi but it is no joke it is mentally taxing so incredibly exhausting because the area of her brain that was affected changed her personality completely as well so she's very difficult to deal with but anyway yes fall clothes are my weakness also so I'm trying to have some sort of discipline especially that I haven't worked on my business in weeks smh...i just hope i can sneak some time in to get ready for holidays lol

bean5669 @eyecandybydidi oh thanks I've just always been super close with my grandmother and when my grandfather passed I took care of him his last months of his life and I would do it for anybody in my family but my grandmother and I have a very special relationship so I'll do whatever I can that's best for her you know but it is tough and if it is a declining Dementia or Alzheimer's then it will definitely get to a point where something else is going to have to be done

And we know how difficult it is to deal with toddlers who just don't understand and it's very much the same thing, takes a lot of patience for sure. I remember one year of my son's toddler face I probably spent 3/4 of it locked in my bathroom crying because he would just terrorized my whole house he was like a two foot tall terrorist LOL and that's exactly what she's like except she's adult-sized and much harder to control LOL Thank u so much i appreciate it! One heart breaking year as a kid was the only bad experience and that was trying to have a party in the few weeks before Christmas, not one kid came 😔 and they RSVP too so my parents were pissed

My oldest sister would shes super caretaker but she lives in NY, has 4 kids of her own, plus raises my other sisters kids during rhe day & her husband is a cop so shes basically a single parent mostly!

My biggest pet peeve and I'm saying this because it's happened in my family but during their life they aren't around to help or do anything but when they're about to pass or have passed and they want a payout they come out of the woodwork. So irritating. We actually do things out of love and not financial gain. Sounds like you and your sister are a lot alike.
