persuasions Ok so first I think your lighting may be off some or not set up properly. How many lights do you have and what kind of lighting? Next, what type of camera are you using? There are settings on a camera that can actually get rid of the wrinkles if you physically can't....

persuasions I'm also assuming based on your comment to me you're using a white sheet like backdrop? (Been there, done that & quickly moved on). They are like bed sheets and don't reflect lighting well in my opinion. I prefer and always use (for my white background photos) a seamless white backdrop hung from the wall on a wall mount that pulls down. Now I have a physical photography studio so I do know not everyone can do that.

persuasions Mine is like 15 feet wide. I also don't use the paper as the floor. It is pulled out about 8 feet onto my floor but I purchased a special white board for my floor I put on top of it which is also great for helping bounce light back up.

persuasions They gray-ish color on your background is due to your lighting and using a sheet. I hated those sheets personally. Once I got rid of the sheet it made my photos so much better without gray-ish shadowing appearing in the photos. But you can also use editing tools post photoshoot and certain settings on your camera during the shoot to help with this as well. 👍🏻

persuasions Anyway I hope this helped some. I'm happy to help best I can. Feel free to ask more questions and I'll do my best to help. If I knew what you were using for a camera, even if it's your phone & what type of phone, it'd help me help u. 👍🏻 looking forward to hearing back from you. XoXo 💋

poshmaymay @persuasions I have to get back to you on what type of lights. I ordered them from Amazon and I tried all different settings on the camera actually I’m using my iPad. On your plain backdrops what do you use? I just ordered this backdrop from Amazon, think it’s going back it works better as a clothes hanger. I’m hoping to find a plane thicker backdrop or something that doesn’t have this wrinkle effect. I noticed you had some plain ones.

persuasions @poshmaymay do you have anything else besides an iPad to use? I only ask because the camera in an iPad isn't as good as the one in the phone (I know some claim it is but trust me, it's not). Do u have an iPhone?

poshmaymay My iPhone camera is really bad, it’s been dropped so much that it that the cámara has a vibrating effect, so I got the newest IPad for taking photos.
Oct 04Reply
persuasions
persuasions @poshmaymay oh ok. I'm not personally a fan of umbrella lighting. I use at least 5 lights at once if not more. My white backdrop set up also has my diy reflector boards. One side is painted white and the other is painted black. They are angled on each side and depending on what color you're shooting you use one side or the other. It helps reflect lighting properly as well.
Oct 04Reply
persuasions
persuasions @poshmaymay how your lights are set up is important as well. We have 2 on each side. One is higher than the other on each side and then one focus light in front of the set up & model. The box lights are great because u can adjust the lighting just by removing or putting back on the soft focus cover. It is a way to adjust the lights harshness.

poshmaymay @persuasions Where did you buy all of your background progress
Oct 04Reply
persuasions
persuasions @poshmaymay hmmm it was a long time ago. I actually use to work for Threadflip for a few years and they sent me my first seamless backdrop. But I have bought another since then. I'll have to see if I can find where I got everything.

poshmaymay I had them on tripods; I’ll correct it
Oct 04Reply
persuasions
persuasions @poshmaymay tripods are good. The lights need to be on them to adjust the height of the lights. So it's just a matter of setting them up correctly. You may need to set up a little different depending on the space you're using to do the shoots. Like my current photography studio has no windows or natural lighting so my set up has to be the way it is but it's a pretty normal set up so either way actually it'd probably work for u as well.
Oct 04Reply
persuasions
persuasions @poshmaymay Geesh I wish I could just show u. Lol. So hard to explain it. We are currently looking into getting a new photography studio though. I want one with natural lighting, wood flooring & places with brick walls and solid walls as well. I can't wait to look! Once I'm back from Florida we will be looking into it. Yayyyy!
Oct 04Reply
persuasions
persuasions @poshmaymay the iPad Pro is the best of the iPads in my opinion. I'm planning on buying one myself for my business but not for photos. For different reasons. I know the camera on the pro is better than older versions. I'd have to research the camera on it to see if u can adjust certain settings on it, like the aperture/f-stop and so on. When I have some free time I'll look into it for you.
Oct 04Reply
persuasions
persuasions @poshmaymay Do u use a tripod for the iPad for your photos? I only ask because there's something called "camera shake". Most people don't notice it but I'm crazy picky & notice it. Using a tripod to take photos like we do is good and prevents camera shake.
Oct 04Reply
poshmaymay
poshmaymay @persuasions Thank you so much, yes I do use a tripod for the iPod as well. I’m checking Amazon right now for different types of backdrops
