wildfiber@elizabethdiane6 hi, the links throughout the stars are very strong and I put on the clasps myself. The only type of jewelry I would ever recommend getting wet is pure, solid gold. You can get gold or silver plated jewelry briefly wet, but it always has the ability to tarnish. Hope that helps!
