klocker22 Just so you know I’m pretty sure these aren’t selvage, I’ve been a huge fan of nudies and selvage denim in general and I’ve never seen selvage nudies without the self finished edge which is exclusive to selvage fabric

missques @klocker22 Thank you for interest and sharing. Actually selvedge is.... an edge produced on woven fabric during manufacture that prevents it from unraveling. I have jeans from other premium denim manufacturers that are “selvedge”. It not exclusive to a specific denim called selvedge although it can be.

klocker22 @missques right, but it’s a self finished edge during the weaving process of the fabric, not during the production of the garnets. This self finished edge alleviates the need to serge the ends.. if you turn the denim inside out and the seam running along the outside of the leg has a visible serge stitch you can almost guarantee it’s not selvage. Companies know consumers are looking for selvage strips to ensure the fabric is high quality so they would never remove them. It’s like the indicator of

klocker22 selvage jeans. Even when people wear them cuffed you can look down and literally tell if they are selvage right then and there because you’ll see the self finished edge or you won’t.. (I know right! Denim connoisseurs have been judging us this whole time!!) self edge is where the terms “selvedge” and “selvage” come from. No self finished edge. Not selvage. Could still be dry denim or dry organic or a myriad of other features that make jeans awesomer but not selvage...
