This is Colton, born in 1997 and diagnosed at age 4 with retinoids pigmentosa. Your support has made it possible for Colton to get a very expensive genetic eye test. He has decided to wait but I have the $ set aside for him... shari527My daughter was diagnosed at about 12,she was no suppised 2 have inherited from her father,we had genetic counseling b4 conceving,she is adored,a dream,i could not imagined my life w/ out her,she handles it very well,shes an artist,we were told she would not have RP, but thats life nothing is perfect,this has been a part if our family now 4 over 50 years

laurafay@shari527 💕💕💕💕 RP is a heartbreaking disease... my son was diagnosed at age 5 at ucla. We go every two years for a checkup. He refused to learn Braille or even use a cane... but he is proficient @computer. Colton takes a class or two at our local junior college... he has said he wants to be a 911 operator one day... or maybe a job answering phones. TO is a depressing disease to watch a loved one go through but I remind myself it isn't cancer. 💕 Where do you guys live?

shari527@laurafay we r in sarasota fl Victoria has a very slow progression,she just stopped night driving at 28,her father stopped night driving at 16,his grandmother on his father side had RP as well, as several cousins on his fathers side, that is how his parents found out it was in the family they were alerted when he was 12 he & his siblings were tested

shari527@laurafay i am confused by that bcuz rp is a genetic disease ,inherited from one parent ,it is in my family we have genetic charts to try to see where and how it works genetically ,i dont no about which gene,his father does not have rp but yet he passed it 2 my husband ,my husband has 2 siblings none have it they have kids no rp.

I used to be a professional singer and sang with some of the big names like Tammy Wynette, Barbara Fairchild, Kris Kristofferson, Jeff Cook ( Alabama), etc. I am 75 years old and I go to nursing homes, etc. I volunteer now but I am so blessed.

In 2008 I got this weird fatal infection, usually put everything before my discomfort, on the anniversary of his death I got so sick so quickly I was in the ICU He didn’t want our kids to be orphans. I work in healthcare and was told I would’ve died if I’d waited any longer. OMG. I wasn’t a believer.

I'm tired but a mom has to do what a mother has to do! My mother... who passed away at age 64 in 1995... was born in Chicago. Her family name was Frazer and she was adopted by Charles and Laura Robert's. That was way before your time, too! I'm 55 so I am right behind you. Nice to meet you and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

It has been quite a challenge as there was no diagnosis with my oldest which left her seriously mentally and physically handicapped to the point that I can no longer care for her. She is in her own home now with 24 hour care. Anyway, it is a long story. I applaud you for your love and strength in being a good mother, in being a teacher, and student.
