You cannot get sterling silver wet or have it come into contact with other everyday chemicals such as sweat, lotions, soaps, ANY cleaning products. I worked in the Fine Jewelry Dept of PENNYS and this was a common misconception about Sterling. 925 is only the amount of sterling added to a copper or brass base. Brass or copper will tarnish. They will last years if you follow these rules.
