Clear closeup photos 2. A reflection of personality within the photos 3. modig @stylish_paige tiny brushes, tiny strokes😂 my eyes couldn’t always see and if I breathed to heavily or sneezed, I lost a mouth or eye- seriously! Had to hold my breath for some!

modig @katherine61 thank you Katherine- I’m quite used to working much larger so these were an interesting challenge to the hand and eye but exactly... I wanted a beautiful place to keep a hand held image and vintage compacts are so lovely and filled with history!

modig @katherine61 we can talk under any ‘sold’ item further, but yes Katherine, I occasionally work on commissions (am working on a larger 3 figure family at the moment). I usually take the photos myself and go from there but if you had very clear images, I could work from them. Why don’t you look at what you have...

It’s strange how easy it is to lose something if you breathe too strong or your hand shakes- I wiped out an eye on a couple occasions!😬😂😂But Yes, entirely different scale- need the big ones too, you feel how controlled/still you are in these from holding so quietly where in the big, your arms and body can move- good for me to work both!

momoretro @modig gorgeous - the detail is amazing but what is really incredible (for me) is the light on the faces; & depth; I can only imagine the interplay between that and the mirror in the compact. It’s not just talent it’s incredible skill - painting is a form of problem solving too!!!

modig @momoretro oh that’s a delightful comparison but I would say more baroque- Rembrandt and Rubens and Spanish artists excite me with their surface energy and focus on raw emotion. Vermeer is more designed and still which I do love but I want stillness in the thick of movement if that makes sense - 🌷

modig @leviya Lorri - it was and is a strange and good experience- one that helps me think - it puts everything in perspective when the wrong stroke can wipe out a good portion of the face- I have to be patient and slower and see form in tiny masses- And rework and layer the way I would in a large piece - both large and small are evocative to me in differences complementary ways! I’ve gone on and on because I get so excited with the subject of making things!😬😂 thanks so much for visiting!😘
