@_lindsayneaves it is a puffy coat but not super heavy. Yes, sizing seemed a little strange but my 9 year old wearing boys large(12) now tried both on. The small fit but short in the arms and not much room to grow. The large was just a bit to big. In my opinion small is like a boys 10, large boys 14
