Learn the difference between Valentino Garavani and Valentino by Mario Valentino. These are not one in the same. I’ve had people confuse the two and are heartbroken to learn they spent $500+ on a Valentino bag that isn’t the Valentino they wanted. Learn the difference! Many sellers don’t know either! I’m not knocking Mario but that label is not synonymous with Valentino. An informed shopper = a happy shopper

Thank you for this I was considering making a similar post! Posh should really have a separate brand listing just Mario Valentino or Valentino Garavani. No plain “Valentino”.

@myawesomefinds totally. Even with separate categories though, ppl would still get confused. Many don’t realize they’re two separate brands. Some that do (sellers) overprice their products to bait unknowing buyers. It’s so unfair. I don’t think ppl realize half the time.

@cupcakesmcgee haha thank you. Someone had to say it!!!

There’s also a difference with RED by Valentino
Sep 22Reply

myawesomefinds
@samiamatha RED Valentino is the lower priced diffusion line made by Valentino Garavani. They make more clothes than bags so I think there's less confusion.

@myawesomefinds I’ve still had people not emphasize the “red” part and make it confusing for others - second labels in general need
Their own brand in the list too

@samiamatha this makes sense. Especially for Love Moschino being listed with Moschino ☹️ It’s annoying af.
Sep 22Reply

myawesomefinds
@samiamatha RED Valentino is on the brand list and l have sold stuff under it. I guess some sellers don’t know how to list it properly.

@juliehunt30 I wouldn’t know I don’t usually carry second labels in my store but I know I purchased a pair of “Chloe” heels before come to find out when I received them they were “see by Chloe” worth much less in price and they wouldn’t allow the return because they technically
Are still from Chloe, wasted a lot of my money so it hits a nerve with me when I see other people listing there items without explaining

@myawesomefinds ^ sorry meant to tag you
Sep 22Reply

But yes the Mario by Valentino vs Valentino garavani is the worst
Sep 22Reply

myawesomefinds
@samiamatha oh wow. So to me that is actually a mistagged brand and I’m surprised they did not allow the return.

@myawesomefinds yep I was extremely annoyed 😒 and the seller took no responsibility

What's the diff between just valentino and Valentino red? It's not the same as garvanti right ?
Sep 22Reply

sweetazn89
Garavani
Sep 22Reply

dutchessxoxo
@sweetazn89 no. RED is a lower line.
Sep 23Reply

sweetazn89
@dutchessxoxo how about just valentino ? Is it the same with valentino garavani? Sorry for all the questions. Just wanted to know the difference
Sep 23Reply

dutchessxoxo
@sweetazn89 I dont think that's Valentino Garavani. That name should be on the tag inside the bag or I wouldnt consider it Garavani.
Sep 23Reply

sweetazn89
@dutchessxoxo I see. Cuz when search up Valentino only on Neiman or saks. That popped up. And pretty expsinve. Mostly clothes just wanted to know if it is diff company or not

Glad to see someone else noticed this! I almost bought a Mario bag on accident. Once I googled it, Nordstrom rack, Saks off fifth, and last call were the first to show up before the brands actual website. These bags can be found more often on clearance under $300 than ticket price - that being said, I think sellers buy them to resell “NWT” to turn a profit.
Nov 13Reply

juliehunt30
@mlb6992 yes and now Posh made a separate category for Mario Valentino. I hope ppl use it! Trying to pull one over on others is not ok.
Nov 13Reply

mlb6992
@juliehunt30 Right! Especially when people comment asking the authenticity, and the seller says “yes” ...playing oblivious to what the buyer is actually implying. There’s another brand to be aware of too..”Versace v 1969” being confused for a diffusion line of Gianni Versace, but they aren’t the same.
Nov 14Reply

juliehunt30
@mlb6992 it’s just so messed up!
Nov 14Reply

pitbullpinup
@mlb6992 The Versace situation drives me nuts and posh does nothing to regulate that!
Jan 09Reply

mlb6992
@pitbullpinup you’re right! I can’t bring myself to troll someone’s listing, especially when it’s obvious the seller doesn’t know better either. I think there needs to be tighter guidelines when listing luxury brands overall.

@myawesomefinds I’ve always thought the same!! I wonder how we can advocate for that as Poshers

@sweetazn89 Valentino is typically on the label for Clothes and Valentino Garavani on shoes and bags. Those are both from the same design house. RED Valentino is the lower priced diffusion like from that house. “Valentino by Mario Valentino” is completely separate from that design house and makes bags and shoes that are sold at dept store outlets. I’ve never seen them sold full ticket price anywhere.

myawesomefinds
It looks like they did recently add Mario Valentino as a brand. I guess anyone who puts Mario Valentino under regular Valentino should have it tagged as a mislabeled brand now.
