Are used to have a tri-colored. He was so lovable. I just love animals !!! Had my own pet sitting company for five years. Now I am in real estate and really miss all the pets. I felt like the money was a bonus but the pets were the real joy. I always felt good when I open the door and they were always happy to see me it was so wonderful. I think what you Are doing for these babies is so awesome. Keep up the good work

@16chickens I know EXACTLY what you mean about the dogs/cats loving to see you when you come thru the door. I was a dog walker for 8 years. BEST JOB EVER! Had to leave it when we moved to Las Vegas, otherwise I would still be walking dogs. Too hot in Vegas. Thanks for the comment & hope you have a wonderful holiday season! :)

I really really miss all of the lovable angles. Back then l lived down by the coast, now I live Inland and it also gets super hot here in the summer. So I gave it up for the same reason. One of my friends is still a pet sitter so I get to go with her sometimes.

Also, I love Dire Straits animal rescue in West Chicago. Based at Amber Leaf Veterinary Hospital. Their focus is pets who are seriously injured, abused, neglected or sick. My Jadis has quite the story. Got her there and my life changed. Cheers!

I use to live in Florida and my favorite pet rescue is The Lucky Puppy locates in the panhandle of Florida (northwest Florida area... where hurricane Michael hit in October) they do amazing work with the pups and work hard at finding forever homes. Love this pretty furbaby. It is a sheltie or Scottie collie? we raised the Scott collies when I was a kid. Our male was a big beautiful boy. He was an amazing dog. The female was mine and she was sweet as could be. The barn cat would take her kittens and put them against Lady's belly in her fur during the winter. It was so cute.

@vegasgarden Thank you for helping out our 4 legged furry friends ! ๐พ๐พ I used to volunteer at our local Humane Society, loved it ! Our dear Plum ( Doggie ) was a foster, couldnโt take her back ! Sheโs our daughter ! Speaking of daughters, my oldest lives in Sommerlen ( Spelling ) Lol ! She loves it there. We plan on visiting her in fall, when itโs a little cooler ! Hi Carolyn, l saw your pictures and see your a animal lover like us . We always had collies and shelties and we rescue street cats and have a non profit street cat rescue we set up in 1990. So when l saw your pictures l said here is a kindred soul right down to the scrawny black cat, mine is Bozee and he looks like your black cat,heโs scrawny too. Hello again Carolyn, l thought l would get back to you about the non profit you ask about itโs called Angels with Paws.org in Littleton Colorado. That where the shelter is. We never turn down any cat or kitten. We take in medically needy cats and fe- Luke cats and cats and kittens with ring worm. What Mackey our shelter different is once the cats have completed their two week assessment the cats or kittens are moved into a rooms with other cats/kittens there own ages.

These rooms they are put in have furniture,and windows. Every day they get their daily dose of love by people that come in to cuddle and love on them. Sometimes they want to play and they gets players with. We want to keep our cats and kittens in a place like home. Prospective adopters can go into any room and sit down and watch or engage them in play if thatโs what they want. Every person that works or volunteers just love to play and love on the cats/ kittens. This is why we are different.

I have 2 homeless cats I feed but Iโm also starting to donate food to Streetdogz here in Las Vegas. They help the human homeless feed their pets. ๐๐ถ๐ปโค๏ธ

@vegasgarden She just does it out of the kindness of her heart. Sheโs in her 70s now so itโs getting harder for her. But we all help as much as we can. The cats are getting older and some of the cats are starting to die of old age but theyโve had a good life so thatโs whatโs important. @vegasgarden Wow what a wonderful program. I do a lot of rescues and weโre trying to catch some cats that are feral getting them fixed having all their shots and their ears tipped and everything and then releasing him but my mom is wanting to keep them. We donโt have the heart to just let them go back out into the dangers of the world.

@kmccann76 Iโm so sorry to hear about the loss of your furbaby. The emotional bonds we form with the furkids is just as strong as any other family member. 10 years is way to soon to say goodbye. I lost my best friend a little over a year ago. She was 10 also. I still cry when I think about her. We had a special bond like no other pet Iโve ever had. I may never get over losing her & thatโs ok. She motivates me to help other animals live a better life. I hope your heart can heal. โค๏ธ

Hi! Years ago I called Save-A-Pet in Grayslake because I was ready to adopt a dog...no one ever returned my calls after several attempts. I used to go to the awesome dog park in Lake Villa, and met a lot of dogs there who were adopted from Save-A-Pet... when I told their owners my story, they all looked at me like I was crazy...I wonder what happened???

@chiappoc Save A Pet went thru a rough time awhile back. Maybe it was during that time when you called. They had bad leadership which can happen to any shelter over time. Luckily Save A Pet has a great volunteer staff that makes sure the animals are always cared for despite whatever the leaders do. ๐ถ๐ป๐๐ฅฐ

@vegasgarden No, I haven't...I live in WI just over the IL border by Antioch, IL, so Wauconda is a bit of a drive...I am originally from Chicago too...moved to WI in 1996 when I got married. Spouse is from Chicago too, but he had a house in WI at the time... Still have some friends/relatives down there so we visit from time to time, but the city has changed so much...

@vegasgarden About 2 yrs ago, my dog was almost bitten in half by a Great Dane (a kid was walking that huge dog and couldn't control it.) He had to be sewed back together. Since then, he's become skittish around some dogs so I'm thinking his dog park days might be over. Will try this summer and see how it goes!

Luckily, my sister was able to adopt a pup that was a stray in Florida, but only 1-2 years old last Thanksgiving. They do push the old ones to pasture in my city, unfortunately. I've volunteered at high-kill shelters before and the stories are very sad. some of them are deaf, blind, aggressive, etc. Keep doing what you doโก

We have quite a few shelters in our area. The one I visit most often is the horse rescue. They have a Bargain Barnโ where they sell donated tack, riding clothes, saddles, and other things too. Itโs a win win! They help me and I help them. They have events for the community thatโs benefits the horses and the community loves these events.
