donellajane @knastek Ok, no problem: there is only about 0.5" difference. S is approx. 20.5" and M is 21" measured from tip of shoulder.

lyndab43 What is the length of the sweater itself, from shoulder seam to bottom of hem? I wear a size 12, sometimes a 10. Would I want this sweater in M or in L? Thanks!--LB

donellajane @lyndab43 Hi! Medium bust Approx 23.5" and Length Approx 30", Large bust Approx 24.5" Length Approx 31.5". Size L fits like a size 12/14 . Keep in mind these are roomy and designed to be slightly oversized, so perhaps the Medium would be fine. Hope this helps:)
