@hollsiern11 Hi it’s brass and metal alloy mix. Gold filled. I’ve had mine for a couple of years now and it’s as good as it was. But I don’t expose mine to water, chemicals and related. I also use a very thin layer of glycerine or petroleum jelly (I read it somewhere) (I don’t suggest that) on my ears since I have a serious allergy when I sweat and the metal reacts.

@hollsiern11 After use I dab clean it and leave it inside an air tight box. But this is how I maintain all my jewelry that’s not gold or platinum. If you have a metal allergy I’d ask you to stick to precious metal. No worries about the questions, I’d want you to buy with knowledge about what your buying.
