I have been receiving so many counter offers that I would otherwise describe as being unreasonable and simply annoying. Everyone wants a good deal, including me! — but if you are both a seller and a buyer, some research on the retail market is required to make a reasonable and respectful offer at times. If you see it cheaper elsewhere, go ahead and buy it, but please don’t expect other sellers to price match. Thanks!

endeegems349 @fsugirl5289 Yes they are 😢 On one hand, I understand from the point of the buyer that some items on here are overpriced, and some items are not being honestly described (I personally had two unfortunate situations as a buyer); but I mostly sell, and in the past three months, I have not been able to sell very well. So now I am temporarily going to close my closet to brainstorm and revamp it due to the extreme low-balling.

endeegems349 @plusclosetlove No its not for sale :) People just put ads and they put a price since you can’t put a value of zero on Poshmark to advertise. Tap on the “share” icon to share on your page freely or copy and save the photo and create your own ad on your page 😊

endeegems349 @plusclosetlove you can screenshot it and edit the outside of it to save and post on your page.

taters15
taters15 I completely get this. I once had someone offer such a low price, for one item, that it wasn’t even worth my time to package it, much less bring it to the post office. Needless to say, I declined.

endeegems349 @taters15 Happens all the time. I don’t even make conversations with people that offer $15 for something I listed for $100 yet is worth double that. Unreasonable.

gaiyac1 @endeegems349 I also would like to take a copy of this chart.... I am new to poshmark and so I was a little blindsided by some of the offers I receive. I can understand buyers wanting the best deal possible and some not knowing the Posh policy will definitely lowball you. I have however, been receiving these offers from people who are also sellers😳... I have learnt though, that I don’t have to accept their offer and like you said, if you see it somewhere else jut get it.😁

gaiyac1 @fsugirl5289 hello, I realize from watching blogs on poshmark selling that in order for you to make any money you have to strike a good balance between what you expect to get and what the buyer will be willing to pay.... i feel as though if you price high and give yourself some room to offer at least 2 markdowns, there is a chance that you will find a buyer . May not always work but that is the method I have been trying to implement in my closet. Happy poshing

endeegems349 @gaiyac1 Hello and welcome to Poshmark ❤️ I think that is fantastic that you researched before making an account. All of what you said about expectations being reasonably set is something that totally resonates with me as well 😊 As for the chart, you can screenshot it and edit it to fit onto Poshmark’s screen when posting.
Aug 30Reply
endeegems349
endeegems349 @gaiyac1 The dollar amount put on an ad like this is just to make the posting acceptable since Poshmark does not allow you to put a value of zero under any listing. I just put this on here for buyers AND sellers to understand what happens when fees, tax, and shipping are taken from a sellers’ wages out of common courtesy. 😊

gaiyac1 @endeegems349 Still learning something new everyday . I think this is an amazing platform for buying and selling.... with lots of room for improvements... one of which I think is to give more shipping discount options to sellers when making an offer to a buyer. ( I may want to give a 20% discount but I may not want to reduce shipping).

betwxtskyandsea @endeegems349 Hi! Nice chart! This is such freely available info that you’d think everyone would get it by now. But I will say, I’ve been experimenting with a free shipping model, and the amount of lowballs I’ve gotten has been SIGNIFICANTLY reduced, and sales are maybe about the same. I’ve found that it gives buyers more structure to work with, and I also build in a little wiggle room, so if they want to offer a little lower, it’s cool. Check out my listings, maybe worth considering ┐(゚~゚)┌

betwxtskyandsea @endeegems349 Ooooh, please expound! Is it a state tax thing maybe? I’m super curious because I haven’t run into anything like that yet.

betwxtskyandsea @endeegems349 And thank you! Back at you 💛
Sep 01Reply
endeegems349
endeegems349 @honeysuckle_u It is only for certain states. Illinois has a high tax. I just sold a Tiffany bracelet and was charged $20 tax plus $20 Poshmark fee. So I lost $40. That’s what many people don’t realize about Poshmark. If you are unlucky like me living in a state that is being taxed there is not much room for growth.

betwxtskyandsea
betwxtskyandsea @endeegems349 Oh damn, that’s crazy. I totally understand. Jewelry is taxable in Rhode Island, but most clothing is exempt. Our state sales tax is 7%, so I’ll get taxed on like bags and accessories and such, but not on clothing. Straight up Poshmark’s 20% alone is highway robbery, and I’ve considered closing up shop here in quiet protest. I still might, but I’ve got mad beef with eBay rn too 😠 All these platforms have their virtues and pitfalls I suppose. In any case, best of luck to you!

endeegems349
endeegems349 @honeysuckle_u I am actually pulling out of Poshmark most likely next week. I have never dealt with such disrespectful customers as I have on this platform. I use three additional platforms, and this is by far the worst one for me. Thank you for being so kind and for the conversation tonight and best of luck to you as well 😊

betwxtskyandsea
betwxtskyandsea @endeegems349 I hear that. More than anywhere else, it seems, people here want to buy shit for nothing, as if it’s a thrift store. Unless you got mobility issues, if you want thrift store prices, go to a thrift store. I’ve come up against a couple of nasty folx myself, and it’s definitely rough at times. I’m glad the other platforms are working for you! Were I not coming up on the regular semester, I’d be actively looking to move away also. It really has been lovely chatting. All my best 💕

ndspelman
ndspelman Keyword is reasonably fair: I've purchased 3 pair of shoes from 3 different sellers and all 3 of them from apart the first day I got them. Luckily I wear around the house first. They were all glued back by the seller and passed on to me as "nwt." What a rip off.
Sep 03Reply
endeegems349
endeegems349 @ndspelman That is absolutely terrible. I have also bought things from dishonest sellers who claim things to be a size that they really were not; to say that they were NWT when there was no tag in place and stains on the item. You have to be really diligent with Poshmark and prove every miniscule detail through pictures and detail.

goddutycountry
goddutycountry Well what all the sellers are failing to remember is the buyers sometimes have to go low because by the time you add the shipping costs with the sales tax to your used item them the buyer could spend the same amount of money and buy the item for new. For example someone selling a used hat for $10. Add the $7 for shipping and $2 for the tax and you are at $19. Now think about it- you can go buy the same hat at the store new for $15 to $20- why would the buyer buy it used?

endeegems349
endeegems349 @frankmarson I think this chart applies more to higher end/ designer name branded merchandise. I do agree with you because I feel the same way. Many makeup items and accessible brands lime Target for example, always have markdowns weekly. After figuring in taxes and shipping fees, it isn’t worth paying $25 dollars for an oftentimes used item when I can wait for it to go on sale at the local store and get free shipping promo codes (or just drive there and get it myself).
Sep 10Reply
endeegems349
endeegems349 @frankmarson So yes, sellers should be mindful of what they have and for what it actually retails.
