tlc_vintage I love this. My grandmother would sing it to us, & every time we got together we would gather around the piano or guitar & sing “You Are My Sunshine.” My grandma passed away in Jan. at the age of 98. On her 98th birthday, all she wanted to do was get a chainsaw and go cut wood. My dad and his bro made sure to fulfill her wish. A year prior she lost every earthly possessions in a house fire, but she still had her family, her amazing strength, and ability to always find the sunshine.

tlc_vintage At her funeral, all of her grandchildren & great grandchildren sang her favorite song as loud & as proud as we possibly could. Her great grandchildren, & great great grandchildren were able to sing with enough gusto & enthusiasm it covered up the sobs from the 12 of us who thought we could make it through the song, but could not. Now, when I see anything to do with “You Are My Sunshine,” I share it with my siblings & my cousins, to help keep the memory of that feisty wonderful woman alive.

And I LOVE the connection you guys all had to the song and her. That is my favorite part about this necklace, hearing all the stories that tie them to it. Because so many do! This author wrote a little song that became the most special connection between so so many.
