Hi💖 I’m Maryam. That’s my furbaby Mooshie & our 2 new Cockatoo rescues: Handsome & Emma. Due to my chronic pain/arthritis (my shoulder blades grind against my rib cage) & chronic migraines, as a result from an injury sustained in 2007, & healthcare turning a blind eye/dismissal, my condition worsened with time. Not being able to hold a FT job, Posh is my sole source of income.❗️FINALLY began shoulder surgeries Oct 2020 & have had 6 operations up until November 2023; this may be an indefinite thing, with radiation to burn excess ossified tissue(s). I may put my closet on hold from time-to-time during recovery🌷 Many others, like myself, suffer quietly. We look “fine” on the outside, but we are hurting on the outside. We cannot turn our bodies inside out, so please be kind to those who grieve the person they once were, and the life they once had. They can’t explain how I’m here; or how they missed some vital things on a new MRI I had to demand for🤦🏻‍♀️

They have her on the breathing machine right now. She is awake but can't speak, not only because of the breathing tube but she can't talk at all. They just took the breathing tube out and she can't speak. But she is still here so that is a start :)

thesilksowsear @maryamf85 we’ve done those many times, 😢 I finally went to a very smart Indian (Ethnicity) man at Emory Hospital in Atlanta, Ga. He did a C2 Ganglion Block and Occipital Ablation. It was wonderful for about 8 months, he said when the nerve grew back it would grow back with a vengeance, it did. My insurance will not let me go back, they won’t pay for the treatments. My husband and I have almost gone bankrupt trying to get me well

cheekychic77 @danatinnell my friend got a lumbar ablation a few months ago. He said it was the best thing he could’ve done & he’s back on the force (he’s a cop). Was what your physician did called an RFA? Also, there’s different types of blocks: ones that can only last for 12 hours and surgical ones can be permanent. Im seriously questioning if mine just gave me the anesthetic ONLY cause this is the 1st time I had only hours of relief. I see him tomorrow & I am livid (he’ll be pleased to see me lol)

thesilksowsear @maryamf85 you stick it to that moron!!! It should last WAY longer than that. DUMB ASS Mine I got from Emory did, it lasted about 9-10 months. But Dr Patel told me it was a nerve and it would grow back, and when it did......KATIE BAR THE DOOR.....it would do it with a vengeance!!!! He was right. My insurance will not pay for me to go back. It was exploratory and with that you have to have an 80% recovery rate in 2 weeks. Nerves do not die that quickly.

He’s an attorney too but we know Tom Gerardi so, as soon as he stepped in, they dropped everything and do what they do best, “cover it up.” I have found shoulder specialists but can’t afford the surgeries & this opioid epidemic is killing me. I worked for Nordstrom right before the 2009 recession hit. One receipt was actually too old to read, & I had to call the store manager 🤦🏻‍♀️😂 I should not have been allowed to work retail - I just recycled my paychecks 🤦🏻‍♀️ South Coast Plaza is a whole different world compared to the SouthBay Galleria (now Del Amo mall).

cheekychic77 @vic27lasvegas I know, and both are rescues. They may outlive me actually lol. And it’s not about what state you’re in, it’s about sharing and getting your stuff seen. It’s a hassles, yes, but it has its monetary benefits. I’m selling my own items so I’m losing money either way, but it is what it is until I get my pain under control and my life back. It’s definitely not easy living in LA, CA.

Couldn’t have done it without all the mass love, support and prayers because I had lost hope many times but others held on to it for me. ❤️

When pain meds, chiropractors, surgeries, holistic therapies, and doctors fail, I can literally pull the pain out of the person's physical being where they are pain free and without suffering for weeks to months to forever. It's like a whole other world of pain management.

I search for answers & unfortunately bc I’m not a dr they often don’t like it when I tell them there are certain conditions I think they should consider testing me for (after me doing extensive research). Not everyone can find an easy diagnosis & so many drs don’t want to take on the burden of going the extra mile for answers. Super frustrating when you know something isn’t right.

I began to go into my appointments with my scrubs on so they knew they weren’t talking to just another patient they could push around. Using their own verbiage helps too. My condition did not need to get this bad. But I got the run around for so long 😔 I’m so sorry 😢

I stopped going to drs for awhile bc I’ve just given up that they will push to figure out what is going on. Currently trying to get a fourth surgery while another doctor wants to implant stimulators across my shoulders controlled by an antenna I’d have to carry w/me for the rest of my life that would be accessed by an app on my phone. Im not trying to become a bionic woman 🤦🏻‍♀️ Very tiresome battle. But it means the world to me that others like yourself reach out. Thank you❤️

baseball_jen Wow! I also meant to say that I too am fighting a battle many donf understand nor do they even see. I was quite literally struck by a car while walking my dog and we both lived but I am now epileptic & I no longer drive (I could get my license back & have many times but while on medication I had a seizure while driving on the hwy & was do lucky not to have hurt anyone or anything other than myself & my jeep.

baseball_jen know that was my chance & taking it again is not something that has a possible outcome that I would be able to live with. I get it. I didn't walk for month after the car hit us. I'm lucky my pup was ok (#adoptdontshop!). I love your birds & your cute fluffy pup! I think we have a lot in common. I also have a shoulder injury that happened in high-school & plagues me to this day. May I borrow you disabilities slide? It's so true!! Thanks & best wishes 2 you & yours! ❤️

plumislandmatty so well said. I am a tbi survivor. I have Occipital Neuralgia which seemed to flare and stay when I came down with shingles, followed by mono. As I was lethargic, I slept 23 hrs a day. my spine was so out of line vertigo flared. Now battling back upward. Make this one life meaningful and happy. Go as you go. Gentle thoughts to you.

I also had multiple TBIs, was on full life support for 20 days (wasn’t supposed to survive that but here we are 😒), occipital neuralgia, & am ALWAYS lethargic! I wrote some of my story in hopes that it helps others, & reach out if they wish. The sheer fact that we have to prove we’re suffering/need help is mind boggling. No one wants to suffer! Plz reach out if u ever need to talk 🩷

I, like you, look ok on the outside, but on the inside I have a traumatic brain injury and my cerebellum is diminishing. In 1991 I was bitten by a mosquito and suffered from viral encephalitis and now it left me with ataxia. Basically, the encephalitis came and messed me all up and left. (cont.)
