A moissanite is a lab created stone w similar properties of a diamond .A true moissanite will test as a diamond on most generic diamond testers. It does because of it's hardness. It is the only stone that is almost as hard as a genuine diamond which is a 10 on the MOH hardness scale. Talc powder is a 1 and a moissanite is a 9.25. Some are cut with the same precision as a diamond and by all counts is a fine stone without the price tag. Yet it has all the brilliance and sparkle.

but if its over 500 it gets tested by Posh correct?
Dec 21Reply

mee_oww
@macrosill Yes, But the majority of rings set in 925 are less than 200. And some set in 10k are less than 400. The rings priced over $400 will usually tell you that they will test positive and some will show a pic of it being tested. It is the one's that don't that you need to ask the questions.

I’m so glad you posted this! Having the same issue. I’m not sure if they think moissanite is the new name for CZ. I just keep asking if it tests as a diamond and if they say no or don’t know or don’t answer.. just don’t buy it. 😒

Or maybe they think the 2 words are interchangeable

Thank you for sharing! I noticed a lot of ppl selling morganite rings in rose gold for hundreds that are actually cz and just plated with gold.

Also beware.. I see tons of listings claiming to be Moissanite and stamped 925 ... but if you look you’ll see those exact rings on Wish for $2 🙄 (the sellers aren’t even smart enough to use their own pics... use the same exact pics from the Wish site!) I’ve reported one seller a looooong time ago but they are still selling!

I’d love to share this! If that’s okay? I have a Moissy but before I had mine made this happened to me on an oval! It broke my heart!! So thanks for making this!

@gallerychaos tons of fakes!

@elizawin I’ve written to Posh support like 8 times asking them to crack down and they can’t seem to keep up with the scammers! I told them it makes shopping for higher end stuff like diamonds or moissanite a real hassle. You have to sift through HUNDREDS of fakes and mistagged items! Ugh. If you have a few minutes maybe you could write to Posh support too. They ask for names of specific sellers breaking policy. Happy Holidays. 😊
