jeheller my thoughts and prayers are with you. when I was still in high school my family went through a similar experience. we were out of our house for over 6 months. so it's the worst thing to go through in a few years you'll actually find you're in better shape than you ever were. just keep moving forward🙃

richmondsrelics That’s awful to happen to you. It happened to a neighbor just across from our house. Their house had to be totally removed and a new house built. Fortunately they had insurance. I hope you had insurance too. That’s so sad!

richmondsrelics @my79ta17 We had to replace all 37 windows, had the electric redone. It was the original electric put in back in 1909. We got a new roof last year. We just had brick stamped sidewalks put in. It’s cement but looks like bricks. I love it! We had a few overgrown trees and bushes removed. Still so much to do! Painting, papering......

my79ta17 @richmondsrelics we had part of the roof structure and front wall rebuilt...70k...ouch...and replaced 22 of the 50 windows. that was 40k...gotta wait to do the others...they are good windows so should help with heat if it's ever done..lol We have to have everything done, from electric, plumbing, insulation, sheetrock...floors. basically we have a frame

richmondsrelics @my79ta17 wow! you have more windows than we do! I hated replacing them but most were cracked and taped and chains were broken. The previous owner painted the floors dark brown except where the rugs cover the floor. We had the floor redone. Thankfully we’ve had the funds from selling another house and inheritance. We’re seniors, too old to have any mortgages. Have fun fixing up your home. It’s going to be stunning when it’s done.

It needed a lot more work than we anticipated but definitely couldn't let this beauty be torn down to put up 2 new houses. This house has a lot of history and strong bones. This time they broke several windows. kicked in 2 doors and stole tools, speakers and other stuff. my79ta17 @sellerwick lol...I love that movie....yes...we are testing missiles here:) We don't mind putting the money into it, altho is has been more than we figured, to this point anyway. It's the people that continue to break in that is frustrating. The last break in came with smashed windows, 2 doors kicked in and a lot of stuff stolen. It defeats the purpose to put money into it when people go and cause damage to it:(

spunkygen @my79ta17 the goats are great. They are the Nigerian. We drink their milk too. It’s best to have 2 or more goats since they’re sociable. Glad sharing is helping. It’s a nice big house. Shame the guy lost his life and excellent you’ll be naming the library after him. I see so much potential! One day we want to buy a bigger farm!

spunkygen @my79ta17 you guys sound like us!!!! We have 12 dogs 10 cats 15 goats oodles of chickens and ducks 2 birds and a lizard. Funny. Yeah we have almost an acre and want 2-3 acres! Thought this house would suit our needs but the basement cracked and neighbors are giving tons of problems even though we are not the only farm. But one day we will have our dream. Patience! Good luck with your daughter. The farm is so rewarding.

This house sat vacant with the fire damage and big holes in the roof for about 4 years before we bought it then it took another year before we could get someone to rebuild the roof and front gable wall. At this point we can only work on it in the warmer weather...so its an even longer process. You can follow our progress on face book...Somersworth nh victorian house renovation. Where in Maine?

my79ta17 @godsey19 it is a small world. I was actually born in sanford...lol. I have been in my house now since 97...its gonna be bitter sweet when we finally sell to move into the mansion...lol. We gave ourselves 5 years...its been 3 1/2 but we have all plumbing, electrical, insulation and all the other stuff....hopefully we can get the plumbing done this year

We have done a lot to her already but still have a long road ahead. We gave ourselves 5 years and are 3 1/2 into it. Hopefully this year we can get the plumbing done and figure a heat source.

The place was a disaster and the town took out 6 40yd dumpsters before we bought it. It has so much potential but is very overwhelming for 2 people who work full time...ugh
