Thank you for looking, sharing or purchasing. All proceeds from sales will be used to rebuild my house. My husband & I bought post fire to save from being torn down not knowing the extent of the damage. A life lost in the fire and we will be building a library in his memory. Any and all purchases are GREATLY APPRECIATED. Had roof rebuilt and gable end wall. We have remortgaged our current house to save this one. https://www.facebook.com/Somersworth-NH-Victorian-House-Renovation-540701292986824

jehellermy thoughts and prayers are with you. when I was still in high school my family went through a similar experience. we were out of our house for over 6 months. so it's the worst thing to go through in a few years you'll actually find you're in better shape than you ever were. just keep moving forward🙃

Jul 11Reply

my79ta17@jeheller thanks...we actually bought it after the fire but because of the shape of it developers wanted to tear it down...we fought to save it. it had to be totally gutted and everything has to be cash because they won't loan against it. we have had it 3 years and our goal was 5

Jul 11Reply

jeheller@my79ta17 a woman after my own heart. It definitely is a gorgeous place and its history should be preserved. Best of luck to you and your family. I hope you were able to make your deadline

Jul 11Reply

richmondsrelicsThat’s awful to happen to you. It happened to a neighbor just across from our house. Their house had to be totally removed and a new house built. Fortunately they had insurance. I hope you had insurance too. That’s so sad!

Aug 14Reply

my79ta17@richmondsrelics hi...we actually bought it after the fire...we saved it from the devolopers. We are trying to get her back but it's slow going because everything has to be cash...they won't loan against it because it isnt livable. It is just a shell at the moment

Aug 14Reply

richmondsrelics@my79ta17 You have a big task ahead of you. Join some Facebooks ‘old house’ groups for inspiration and help. One such group is Mansions of the Gilded Age. We have an 1880 2nd Empire. It’s constant work ! Like the movie , The Money Pit. It lives up to it!

Aug 15Reply

my79ta17@richmondsrelics thank you. I will have to check that one out. We do belong to a few but not that one. I loved that movie and quite often think that is what we have...sometimes I wonder if we did the right thing..but she is a solid structure so I couldn't bare to see her torn down.

Aug 15Reply

richmondsrelics@my79ta17 We had to replace all 37 windows, had the electric redone. It was the original electric put in back in 1909. We got a new roof last year. We just had brick stamped sidewalks put in. It’s cement but looks like bricks. I love it! We had a few overgrown trees and bushes removed. Still so much to do! Painting, papering......

Aug 15Reply

my79ta17@richmondsrelics we had part of the roof structure and front wall rebuilt...70k...ouch...and replaced 22 of the 50 windows. that was 40k...gotta wait to do the others...they are good windows so should help with heat if it's ever done..lol We have to have everything done, from electric, plumbing, insulation, sheetrock...floors. basically we have a frame

Aug 15Reply

richmondsrelics@my79ta17 wow! you have more windows than we do! I hated replacing them but most were cracked and taped and chains were broken. The previous owner painted the floors dark brown except where the rugs cover the floor. We had the floor redone. Thankfully we’ve had the funds from selling another house and inheritance. We’re seniors, too old to have any mortgages. Have fun fixing up your home. It’s going to be stunning when it’s done.

Aug 16Reply

mamasthreadsThank you for following me, and I’ll certainly follow back and share for this amazing project. Found the FB page and will follow your progress. What a beautiful home and a lovely tribute to Mr. Millers. Renovation of an old house was a dream of ours for many years, but as we got older and our kids grew up, our path changed. Now I follow old house renovations on line to give me those warm feelings. Good luck to you, and I will enjoy your progress along the way. 💕💕

Sep 18Reply

my79ta17@mamasthreads Thank you for the shares and follow both on here and Facebook. It was always a dream of mine to restore an old Victorian...and this one just fell into my lap as you could say. It needed a lot more work than we anticipated but definitely couldn't let this beauty be torn down to put up 2 new houses. This house has a lot of history and strong bones. It already looks so much better than when we bought it.

kmarieposhBest of Luck to you and your family! I love that you are doing this! 😘🥰🥳

Sep 27Reply

my79ta17@kmarieposh thank you very much!. I had to save the house because the bones were good and she didn't deserve to be torn down. She's coming along nicely:)

Sep 27Reply

kmarieposh@my79ta17 good for you! I hate seeing old buildings being torn down for a jiffy lube. That happened in our town. They tore down an old movie theater. It doesn’t seem to happen as much as it used to.

Sep 28Reply

my79ta17@kmarieposh investors wanted to tear it down. subdivide and put 2 cookie cutter houses up:( It's on almost 2 acres of land which is unheard of where it is located...I said no and outbid them at 75,000

dawnmariebrownI live in NH. Check out NH Preservation Alliance and see if you can get a grant. They’re small grants but...

Oct 12Reply

my79ta17@dawnmariebrown thanks...I will check it out. We have looked into getting some grants but because the house isn't on the historical registry so we haven't been able to get one:(

Oct 12Reply

dawnmariebrown@my79ta17 was there ever a time that maybe dignitaries visited there, or some historical event? I hope so. That would help.

Oct 12Reply

my79ta17@dawnmariebrown i think it was owned by a mayor but was owed by very wealthy people. The 2nd owner owned almost all of Somersworth

Oct 12Reply

my79ta17It is a sad day. My husband went to check on the house and it has been broken into yet again. This time they broke several windows. kicked in 2 doors and stole tools, speakers and other stuff. No matter what we do and how hard we try people keep destroying our house:( I just can't keep going thru the heartbreak...

Nov 10Reply

my79ta17@gogogirl209 thank you Carole...we think so too...glad we could save her but wish people would stop breaking into her...the other night was a lot of damage and theft:(

Nov 11Reply

sellerwickYou should watch The Money Pit if you haven't seen it already. Sadly relatable yet still manages to bring some comic relief.

Nov 17Reply

my79ta17@sellerwick lol...I love that movie....yes...we are testing missiles here:) We don't mind putting the money into it, altho is has been more than we figured, to this point anyway. It's the people that continue to break in that is frustrating. The last break in came with smashed windows, 2 doors kicked in and a lot of stuff stolen. It defeats the purpose to put money into it when people go and cause damage to it:(

Nov 17Reply

spunkygenIt will be beautiful when it’s done. Best of luck!! I’ll keep sharing and pray you meet your goal!! Thanks for the shares! It’s helping. Things are tight here on our farm but babies are being born and the profits will go to more fencing! These kids (baby goats) are so cute!!

Dec 30Reply

my79ta17@spunkygen awww...baby goats...my daughter wants to have goats:) I'm glad the sharing is working...it is here too. Also...thanks for the kind words about my house:)

Dec 30Reply

spunkygen@my79ta17 the goats are great. They are the Nigerian. We drink their milk too. It’s best to have 2 or more goats since they’re sociable. Glad sharing is helping. It’s a nice big house. Shame the guy lost his life and excellent you’ll be naming the library after him. I see so much potential! One day we want to buy a bigger farm!

Dec 30Reply

my79ta17@spunkygen my daughter is gonna try selling her house in the new year...sje wants a farm. We love animals. I have 7 cats...she has 3 cats, 3 dogs and a lizard...I also have freshwater and salt water fish too...lol

Dec 30Reply

spunkygen@my79ta17 you guys sound like us!!!! We have 12 dogs 10 cats 15 goats oodles of chickens and ducks 2 birds and a lizard. Funny. Yeah we have almost an acre and want 2-3 acres! Thought this house would suit our needs but the basement cracked and neighbors are giving tons of problems even though we are not the only farm. But one day we will have our dream. Patience! Good luck with your daughter. The farm is so rewarding.

cinthia505we restored a Victorian bungalow that had a short career as a lab. hard work but worthwhile.

Jan 17Reply

my79ta17@cinthia505 we are going to redo the inside to modern times and keep the outside original since the interior had to be completely gutted...definitely a lot of hard work...but she will be beautiful when she's done

godsey19I just wanted to drop you a quick comment and wish you the very best! I’m located in Maine and I build houses with my father for a living. I know just how much goes into the process and especially a rebuild after a fire. My heart goes out to you and yours and I hope you continue to update throughout the process! As I said I wish the best of luck with your posh sales as well as your rebuilding of this beautiful house. 🏠🔨🪚🪛🧰🪜

Feb 22Reply

my79ta17@godsey19 Thank you so much! This house sat vacant with the fire damage and big holes in the roof for about 4 years before we bought it then it took another year before we could get someone to rebuild the roof and front gable wall. At this point we can only work on it in the warmer weather...so its an even longer process. You can follow our progress on face book...Somersworth nh victorian house renovation. Where in Maine?

Feb 22Reply

godsey19@my79ta17 I’m located just outside of Portland. I will continue to try and share your posts daily to help:) in the meantime I will try to find the project online:)

Feb 22Reply

my79ta17@godsey19 you aren't too far from us. My daughter lives in sanford and we are just over the lebanon maine line. I appreciate your sharing...and I always share back. I think I have the link to our page at the top of this post...let me know if you can't find it

Feb 22Reply

godsey19@my79ta17 wow that’s a small world! I too have family in Sanford and I myself grew up in Wells! I found the house right online. What a beautiful house it was and I’m sure will be again once you folks are finished! 😀

Feb 22Reply

my79ta17@godsey19 it is a small world. I was actually born in sanford...lol. I have been in my house now since 97...its gonna be bitter sweet when we finally sell to move into the mansion...lol. We gave ourselves 5 years...its been 3 1/2 but we have all plumbing, electrical, insulation and all the other stuff....hopefully we can get the plumbing done this year

my79ta17@msaishablake Thank you so much. When I was looking for a house for my daughter I came across this beauty and knew we had to save her. We have done a lot to her already but still have a long road ahead. We gave ourselves 5 years and are 3 1/2 into it. Hopefully this year we can get the plumbing done and figure a heat source.

Apr 07Reply

masala_mama@my79ta17 It’s truly gorgeous and I can only imagine what it will look like once completed!!!! upstairs_atticThat’s awesome good luck. My husband and I designed and built our house 30 years ago it’s a lot of work I have hammering pangs for you Lol

May 13Reply

my79ta17@upstairs_attic Thank you! It has been a lot of work. We needed to clean it out first and rented 3 40yd dumpsters and still have enough in the house to fill another one. The place was a disaster and the town took out 6 40yd dumpsters before we bought it. It has so much potential but is very overwhelming for 2 people who work full time...ugh

May 13Reply

petergjsHi. Thank you for your note with the Sure Shot baseball…………I haven’t played that game since I was 8 years old(54 years ago🤓) and got it for the grandkids so we could have a few laughs. As you already know, anything worth while requires sacrifice. I shall keep your efforts and the life lost in my prayers. Peace

Jul 20Reply

my79ta17@petergjs Thank you Peter for your purchase and kind words. I hope you and the grand kids have fun playing a game from your childhood. Enjoy:)
