I’ve had so many people question how to read size dots so I thought I’d make this post to try and break down how I look up size dots myself! I’ve been collecting for 3-4 years and this is my method!
Note: the steps I followed are for a pair of align pants but really it works for any lululemon item.
Generally the size dot gives you:
1. Size
2. Style Number/Type of item you have and inseam if applicable
Yes the other numbers mean something but IMO not super helpful so I didn’t explain lol. :)

The other numbers is the manufactured date 40417 for instance is April 04, 2017. What’s important about this is on Lulufanatics, each style has a release date especially when you have 30 colors all with the same style number. Each have diff release dates. So if you compare the manufactured date to release date, that can identify almost exactly the color. You will get an occasion issue where two similar colors have similar release dates.
Oct 01Reply

      ngocnguyen1994
@10mowab31 true but I find that this is almost always wrong :/ case in point, the brilliant blue code is 042018 and the release date on lulufanatics is 05/2018. Lol so since it’s usually wrong, I didn’t explain since it’s not particularly helpful and I don’t really use that info since it’s wrong most of the times anyways. 😊😊
Oct 01Reply

      10mowab31
@ngocnguyen1994 it’s not that it’s wrong...the dates should not match. The release date is not the same as manufactured date. But the month and date is close and that’s how you can narrow down the color...I’ll give you an example of ATRPs that I collect.
Oct 01Reply

      ngocnguyen1994
@10mowab31 yes no worries! I think that’s one way to figure it out but I feel that’s just too roundabout for me! :) when I narrow down colors, I like to go by the W code and then just look up matching size dots. This just saves me time rather than trying to figure out the other numbers that seems to be more confusing than helpful. Lol 🤣
Oct 01Reply

      10mowab31
@ngocnguyen1994 here’s an example...W6HES ATRP crops...refers to 17 diff colors...and the commonly mistaken one is Blueberry Jam, Emperor Blue and Hero Blue. The white dot shows a manufactured date of 60117 which is July 01, 2017. So if you look on Lulufanatics for those 3 possible colors, Blueberry Jam is the ONLY color release in 2017...the release date shown is May 2017. Remember, release date is not the same as manufactured date (on white dot)
Oct 01Reply

      10mowab31
@ngocnguyen1994 Hero Blue was a first release ATRP crops in 2016. Back then, the white dot only had the size, not the style number nor date. But yet Hero Blue still is assigned the W6HES number. Emperor Blue was released in Aug 2016. Again, the white dot only shows the size but Emperor Blue is also assigned W6HES.

      ngocnguyen1994
@10mowab31 I think the size dot definitely holds useful info! :) thanks for your answers!! I’m a creature of habit so I’ll just keep doing my own process but that isn’t to say yours is wrong in any way. There are always more than one way to approach doing something!

What about a pair for sale and the size dot has no numbers? I see you have a picture of something similar above but how common is this?
Nov 30Reply

      lvburgess_
No smaller numbers I should say! Just the size of the legging in the dot.
Nov 30Reply

      ngocnguyen1994
@lvburgess74 some fakes are like that but this is what the size dot used to look like for pants made in 2015-2026!!
Nov 30Reply

      lvburgess_
@ngocnguyen1994 ok thank you!!! It looks just like your picture labeled “grayve” with the size 2 and nothing else around it.
Nov 30Reply

      ngocnguyen1994
@lvburgess74 yes the older ones made in 2015-2016 only had the size number on the size dot (sorry my earlier comment had a typo and said 2026 Lolol 🤦🏻♀️). It’s just an older pair but there are some fakes who have that as well since that’s what they copied from! I have a post on spotting lulu fakes too if you’re interested on my page :)

Jan 07Reply

hey girl I have a question! I have a lulu define jacket but the lettering on the dot is spaced out. I can upload a pic. I typed it into lulufanatics and nothing comes up. its T30416
Jan 08Reply

      ngocnguyen1994
@kayy_14 that means it’s an older item that’s made around 2015-2016 so they don’t have the style code like they do now! :/ it’s kinda hard to find out the color from that... try looking up “define jacket” and then in the color filter, pick a color that your jacket might match to from the list and then look through it and see if it matches with any of the listings on lulufanatics. It’ll take a while but you might be able to find it!
Jan 08Reply

      kayy_14
@ngocnguyen1994 dang that sucks! ok thank you girl. its just plain black but they have like 15 black defines that look the exact same. they have the first second and third release and then a couple other ones im like !?! it looks the same
Jan 08Reply

      ngocnguyen1994
@kayy_14 from that one yours is probably one of the earlier releases form 2015-2016! I think they started doing the size dots with the style code around mid-2016 to late-2016 if my memory is correct lol! :) hope that kinda narrows it down!

I’ve literally went through this website multiple times as well as every posting I’ve found online for the various grey shades with the W5BEJS code - none line up with the numbers on this specific pair. It’s driving me insane 😂 they are either Graphite Grey (first release), Titanium, or Dark Carbon. The closest I’ve found has the last four numbers as 0418 vs. 0318.

@ngocnguyen1994 do any of the numbers mean manufacture date? I’m looking for black aligns from before the mid 2020 material change. At home I have a pair with the code W5LJFS, & they have the size dot with a few numbers, but not all the extra 0’s & they were from 2017. I’m looking at a pair with that same code, but the size dot is one of the new longer codes. I’m confused. I thought the code meant they’d be from 2017
Jun 08Reply

      ngocnguyen1994
@ooama72ndaoo yeah the other numbers do mean something but they never match up on lulufanatics and I tried figuring it out one time and just gave up! The method I outline in the post works best for me to compare my size dot with older posts!

Jun 17Reply

      ngocnguyen1994
@chopsshop if it only has a size number, it’s the oldest dance studio pants around 2015-2016 was when lululemon’s size dots looked like that!

      princessmeow
@ngocnguyen1994 do you know the difference between the "old" and "new" fabric of aligns? I've seen this term in listings but don't know what it means!
Aug 22Reply

      ngocnguyen1994
@princessmeow yes so the older align fabric (nulu) was much softer and has that “buttery” feel. However, it was more prone to snags and pilling. The never align fabric is still considered nulu but it’s more resistant to snags and feels more compressive. However, it is less buttery soft and feels more like a nulu-luxtreme fabric hybrid than the original nulu fabric in the aligns!
Aug 22Reply

      princessmeow
@ngocnguyen1994 Ooooh thank you so much! I have one more question I'm so sorry! Are all Aligns high rise or do they specifically have to say high rise in the name?
Aug 22Reply

      ngocnguyen1994
@princessmeow most aligns are high rise! They’ve come out with some limited edition ones in the past that may not follow this rule but I’d say bout 95% of aligns are high-rise. Just be careful because sometimes sellers can’t differentiate between aligns and Wunder unders (which are low rise)! I’ll tag you in another post so you can see what I mean!

@ngocnguyen1994 So sorry to bother you again! You are such an expert! If the 5-6 letters match with the ones on Lulufanatic/other posts with those numbers, is that all you need? I've noticed there are different colors sometimes using the same sequence of numbers/letters and I kind of have to guess at which specific color it is. Do the "date numbers" mean anything to you either?
Aug 22Reply

      princessmeow
@ngocnguyen1994 Also, do the numbers after the "s" mean anything? or is it just the 5-6 letter code and the manufacturing date that you use. How accurate is the manufacture date?
Aug 22Reply

      ngocnguyen1994
@princessmeow the manufacturing date isn’t the same as the release date on lulufanatics so honestly I don’t use those numbers to find out the color!
Aug 22Reply

      ngocnguyen1994
@princessmeow the 5-6 letters and numbers represent the style code that you can use on lulufanatics to look up possibilities of colors. As for the rest, you have to narrow it down by deductive reasoning so you have to look at previous postings for a particular color! You can do that on posh or other reseller sites - ones with the tags on would be even better so you can see the color name on the tag!
Aug 22Reply

      ngocnguyen1994
@princessmeow a lot of align pant color identification is just a bunch of trial and error until you get really seasoned at it… usually it takes me like 4-10 mins to track down a color using this method. It was helpful when I was searching for particular align colors to collect back then but now I have essentially all the colors I need so I post to help others with their align search!
Aug 22Reply

      princessmeow
@ngocnguyen1994 Oh my goodness this is all so, so helpful! I have sensory issues and the align leggings are the only ones I can wear that don't cause me to have an uncomfortable stomach. I've seen so many beautiful colors in the past so I have been trying to track down some old ones (we'll see how that goes, haha). You are so generous and helpful, I wish I could pay you for your knowledge and time!
Aug 22Reply

      ngocnguyen1994
@princessmeow yes that’s why I love the align pants too! It’s so comfy and such a flattering pant! Honestly I hate the new align fabric so I just kept all my old ones and keep wearing it (other than the ones I am selling of course lol). I also take very good care of my aligns - always wash on delicate mode with cold water and NO DRYER USE. I just hang them to dry and they held up perfectly for me - no complaints!

What do you think of the code matches the correct style on Lulufanatics, but the color isn’t there (surprised black isn’t listed)? You think they are fakes then?
Oct 29Reply

      ngocnguyen1994
@smllfry sometimes black is not listed - I’ve noticed that in the past! But usually colors should be exact on lulufanatics! Also check the fabric and the whole pant first (even better if you have a comparison pair) so that you can see if there are any changes!

Are you aware of Lululemon changing the size dot to a square? I was sold a pair of “NWT” along leggings that had a square with the coinciding info on it instead of the typical size dot. Seller insisted they’re real and I’ll admit they’re convincing but I cannot find any information about the dot changing to a square.

@mom2aem yes the new items have changed into the size squares! In fact, that’s a good sign of authenticity because a lot of the fakes are the size circles/dots!

@ngocnguyen1994 Ok, where do you learn about this? I have been scouring the internet and even chatting live with Lulu and nobody can tell me for sure.

@mom2aem hi yes I’ve noticed because it says that on all the new lulu items I’ve bought recently directly from lululemon website. Additionally, you can find it on the lululemon r e d dit page !

Hi! What if the size dot is white with just the size on it? Theres no number or code around it. Just want to know I got an authentic pair of leggings from thrift. Also there’s a small hole. I know Lulu has a great product guarantee. Will they give a credit if there’s an issue with leggings that were thrifted? Thanks in advance

@clothandyarn they used to make leggings with a size dot like the one you described but it just means it’s an older pair. It could also be a fake since counterfeit items were made and that’s why Lululemon changed the size dot to be more complicated. As for your second question, lululemon doesn’t guarantee anything if you bought it secondhand or thrifted it.

Hello! I almost feel stupid even asking but to the best of your knowledge, has Lululemon ever had a silver size dot? I purchased a No Limits tank (2013), NWT but it has a silver size dot. Pretty certain it's fake but can't find the answer anywhere! Thanks in advance!

hi. I love Lululemon older leggings made with Nulu or Luon because they are so soft. I'm constantly on the hunt to find them. I have found several online but when I try to see if they are legit by searching style # or color Lulu Fanatics most are not coming up. any suggestions as to how I can go about purchasing without getting duped?
