catbean123 Thank you for posting this! I bought a bag on here a while back and was thinking of reselling it on here but I believe after this post it may have been a fake

anxjess @catbean123 I think that’s really responsible and cool of you :0 I think it’s okay if people sell fakes online as long as the seller mentions it in the description or title of the listing.
Oct 16Reply
anxjess
anxjess @catbean123 Of course we want to try to end of cycle of people buying and selling replicas online but if you think giving your Kånken a new home to someone would be better than donating it, (maybe you really need the $$$ or you think it’s pretty good quality anyway) then there shouldn’t be any judgement about selling it. You can always upload the listing and label it as “not for sale” and I can check it for you if you’d like? 🦊

mahivr Thanks a lot! Does any authentic backpack include about climate compensation? I saw it being included in some images found on Urban Outfitters and it’s got me confused.
Jun 25Reply
anxjess
anxjess @mahivr I’m not entirely sure, the majority of fakes I see always say “climate compensated” so I prefer to just stay away from those ones. Your best bet is purchasing from the fjallraven website if not from a reliable seller on Poshmark. ✨

tonyafreels After seeing this post, I've seen soooo many dupes. On the front emblem patch of the authentic, will the little circle above the A (Å) always touch? I mean, at least let people know they are fake! A lot would still buy them.
Jul 21Reply
anxjess
anxjess @tonyafreels I’m not entirely sure. I always figure it’s better to be safe than sorry because all the kånkens I’ve seen with the overring touching are always 100% authentic. So in other words: ⚠️• assume that if the covering isn’t touching, it is more likely to be fake but *could* be real. ✅• If the overring IS touching, it’s definitely real. So it comes down to a matter if the buyer is willing to take chances or just play it safe.

tonyafreels @anxjess If I tagged you on one could you help me identify? The color block on the strap is throwing me off.

majortom69
majortom69 Thanks for the great info! Been wanting to purchase a larger one than the mini I have to use when I go with my daughter to England in September for her to start grad school. Any suggestions on which style? Or just up the size? Thanks again!
Jul 27Reply
anxjess
anxjess @majortom69 Ooh! Lucky her! For England I would definitely go for the Kånken No. 2 because it has a waterproof exterior. I was supposed to go to grad school in Ireland this September and purchased the 15” Laptop Kanken No. 2 for that exact reason: in case it’s really rainy! Assuming England has the same weather, that’s what I would purchase if I were you. :•)
Jul 27Reply
majortom69
majortom69 @anxjess thanks so much! She’s actually going to the driest area in the UK! Not that means much because it’s still a lot more rain than we get here! I’m in the process of getting my Irish citizenship and would have loved for her to go to school there but she’s a neuroscience and psychology undergrad major from Boston University and really wants to do research.
Jul 27Reply
majortom69
majortom69 Unfortunately, none of the programs in Ireland are rated very high for neuroscience research. We checked out programs all over and she would have chosen Germany but no programs were available in English. She has traveled all over the world and knows England well, so that’s where she’s off to! She will probably end up getting her PhD in neuropsychology but who knows?
Jul 27Reply
anxjess
anxjess @majortom69 oh wow that sounds exciting! I am actually in the same boat as you! I got my Irish foreign birth certificate back in January of this year, and my Irish passport is coming in the mail this week! The whole process do dual citizenship was only supposed to take 6-8 weeks but because of Brexit and COVID, it has taken me 2 years. 🙄
Jul 27Reply
anxjess
anxjess @majortom69 But I hope the application process is going more smoothly for you! It’s definitely a test of patience with the DFA over there. 🥲 Good luck to your daughter, and the regular Kånken would also probably be fine since it’s the driest part of England, also September is pretty dry in that region of the world! 😊
Jul 27Reply
anxjess
anxjess @majortom69 oh my that’s still really amazing of her to be going into neuroscience. It’s it’s great that she’s had the ability to travel a lot. I just finished my undergrad in English Literature and while England would probably be the ideal place to study that, (😅) Ireland has always just felt like a second home to me. ♥️

majortom69
majortom69 Great schools in China but she’s adopted from there, doesn’t speak Chinese and Chinese professors she dealt with at BU told her she “should” know her native tongue. She can speak Spanish and French and the Chinese she knows isn’t appropriate to use around anyone that knows Mandarin! She always picked up greetings and other sayings in each country I’ve taken her to. I hope you’re able to go to school in Ireland! Slainté!
Jul 27Reply
anxjess
anxjess @majortom69 Mandarin is definitely a difficult language to learn, I’m glad your daughter is going somewhere she really enjoys. And thank you so much! Sláinte! ☘️

ariari214
ariari214 This post is helpful, but, perhaps some things are not 100% accurate and people may be passing up on actually authentic backpacks? On the actual Fjallraven website, the photos of the inside of the bag don't show a tag with that crown emblem.
Aug 31Reply
ivyrosel
ivyrosel Thanks for this but I have a couple of things to disagree with you. 1. About the circle not touching the A on circle patch. Some authentics, not just the mini Kanken, have round patches that the circle on top of A is not touching. But in the inside rectangular patch, the word kankens, should have the circle on top of “a” which many fakes do not have/forget to put.
Sep 16Reply
ivyrosel
ivyrosel 2. Speaking on the inside rectangular patch by the back pocket, not all models, have always got that Swedish crown stamp/picture. Some don’t have it, older models do not even have the Sweden flag sewn there. Just my two cents so others may not get mislead and miss a great deal just because of what you posted 😉

crackerann Thanks you! I’m shopping for one right now. I also love that you’re Irish ! My family name is Ryan great great grandfather was a miner here in CA. My great grandfather (Strachan) came from Scotland at 14. I want to Visit places where my ancestors lived. didn’t mean to share my life story. Sorry. You prefaced each time, with, it could be real.Ive seen lot of bags without the small Swedish flag. Selling a fake without disclosure the seller will spend time refunding money!! It’s Posh’s policy.

aggie047
aggie047 question, I've seen pictures on Nordstrom of Kankens that don't have the court of royal arms emblem on the inside. are some authentic ones made without?
May 29Reply
anxjess
anxjess @aggie047 yes, not all of them have it. I have two Kankens for sale in my posh closet currently that I purchased at the Fjällräven flagship store in soho and neither of them have the Swedish royal coat of arms
May 30Reply
aggie047
aggie047 @anxjess one of the ones you have for sale does say "this kanken is climate compensated ". according to these notes, that would be a fake. I'm confused now. 😅
May 30Reply
anxjess
anxjess @aggie047 this post is also specifically for the original Kanken whereas the two listed in my posh closet are the Kanken No. 2 and I realized a few years later that the tips I provided in this post don’t fully apply to all kankens (this post I wrote in 2020 so it’s pretty old, and I also later learned that older Kanken productions omit the coat of arms and other things).
May 30Reply
anxjess
anxjess @aggie047 If I were to update this, I would say the three major things to look out for are the Swedish flag being poorly stitched in, poor stitching quality overall, and if the snaps on the straps are positioned incorrectly. Usually through photos you can also tell if the fabric quality is cheap. That’s the best way to look for fakes .
May 30Reply
aggie047
aggie047 @anxjess thanks for responding! I'm trying to purchase one but nervous about it being a fake so I'm just sitting on it.
