How to tell: Biggest tip is that the general design&quality are garbage! Anything you see that has LEOPARD PRINT on the tag is FAKE 99.9% of the time!BJ tags will always have a scannable barcode or residue on tag. -Except for 1 Disney collection/Trolls, she does NOT do licensed characters (Hello Kitty, Minions, SpongeBob) -Rhinestones not iridescent or flat/flush to jewelry. -Differences in logo on heart & chains are thicker & cheap Ask if you aren't sure. KNOW WHAT YOU'RE BUYING!

bubbleandsqueakthank you so much for this, I have been a betsey fan for years, got my pink wedding dress at the outlet to be married by elvis in vegas, so this is so sad that people are doing this I had no idea and bought some that were fake not knowing as I haven't been up on the latest collections since there are not any betsey stores around. Question: Some of the stuff bought at macey's looks like the barcode starts with 85 and not 89? Is that true? Or are all 85's fake?

bubbleandsqueakalso if it says its a sample on the back of the label and they are dragonfly earrings probably fake right?

cdonn01I have been wondering about this. There is an official Disney line, but the tags clearly say Betsey Johnson x Disney on them and they are high dollar..you won’t find a $10 necklace. 🙄 I wasn’t sure about Hello Kitty, since BJ has done HK artwork in the past, so that’s good to know. Thanks! 💖

nastygalwannabe@cdonn01 hi there! yes, as of november 2020 there IS a disney parks X BJ line-I know for sure there is mickey and the little mermaid. things of that nature are pretty easy to google and just like you said, the quality ABSOLUTELY stands out as authentic! however, HK, I cannot verify as authentic anywhere. thanks for checking in! https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2019/08/new-disney-parks-collection-x-betsey-johnson-jewelry-coming-soon-to-disney-parks-shopdisney/

Mar 18Reply

r_fieldIf you want to be appalled, check out etsy. There were 20 pages under "Betsey Johnson necklace" with maybe 8 real ones.

yore_and_beforeTHANK YOU for joining in the fight against the rampant counterfeit Betsey Johnson on this site! It’s falling to us to report and remove, one fake piece at a time, and I’m thrilled to see more sellers rallying around how to spot the fakes! 🥰 Best, Angela

nikwissmanI was just taken for a ride on a pin 😓 before I knew any better a couple days ago. I’m so sad now.

tank_girl87Thank you so much for posting this! I’m looking for vintage Betsey Johnson jewelry and bags, she’s always been one of my favorite designers, but I never got to own any of her pieces from the 90s and 00s. So this post is great! I thought some of the pieces I was looking at looked tacky! And not in that campy cute kitsch that we love from Betsey!
