Hi! Thanks so much for your question! Yes, It is functional, but it can get stuck once in a while, so I wouldn't rely on it to work 100% of the time. I have always used it to dispense marbles and small beads, and the marbles are a bit large, so that might be part of why it was getting stuck for me. But I don't want to say that it definitely will work for something smaller, but I assume it will either work better, or about the same as it did with the marbles.
