This is a gorgeous rare cherry brown genuine amber sterling silver pendant. It is artisan made and has a unique riveting on its back. Cherry amber is the most expensive and desired amber color. The bail is tested positive for sterling silver. The chain is made of silver tone base metal and measures 18 inches long. The pendant weighs 12.5 grams. As kindly pointed out by a lady, the top of the pendant, where it attaches to the bail, may have either been repaired or the artisan may have used generous amount of solder. Please see the last pictures.

softkey Hi, I just bought black opal from your store and looking at this vintage amber piece. Am I wrong seeing some repairs on top in connection between metal plate and loop?

msa5123 @softkey Hi there! Thank you for purchasing the large agate pendant a bit earlier. I bought the cherry amber as vintage. I couldn’t tell if it was repaired or was soldered by the original artisan like that. I will ask my jeweler friend who’s the expert on these things and get back to you. It is a very sturdy bail! 🤗😘🤗

msa5123 @softkey Hi there! I took a few more pictures with 2.5 and higher magnification. (Please see the last pictures). I think it looks like excessive solder metal around the bail. And the solder material doesn’t look like sterling silver. I will show it to my jeweler friend and ask for her opinion. 🤗

msa5123 Hi there! I showed it to my friend. She thinks it’s soldering with a metallic compound that they use for glass and metal art work. 🤗😘🤗

softkey @msa5123 I have another question about the pendant. Tell me if I’m wrong if I see little damage on one of the top corner on the edge

msa5123 @softkey Hi there! When cutting a precious and rare amber, they try to spare as much weight as they can. The corner is not broken but the imprint of the tiny pebbles in the ocean floor that it was pulled out of. In fact that corner proves that this amber is not heated or treated.🤗
