littlesuzie68 Yes! They keep changing user names. They’ve stollen my listings too.

botablu
botablu @littlesuzie68 They’re not changing user names. They’re creating hundreds to thousands of accounts at a time.
Dec 02Reply
sharksluvme
sharksluvme @botablu it never ends. I no longer shop on Poshmark sadly.
Dec 03Reply
botablu
botablu @sharksluvme Yes, unfortunately they never got a handle on it when they could have—& very easily, had they taken action at that time. I literally now spend half my day blocking, emailing Posh to report, and messaging others to advise or warn. Very sorry to hear you’re not shipping on here. Posh needs to hear that from the droves of folks who are saying & doing similarly.
Dec 03Reply
abbycrawf
abbycrawf I don’t understand how the scam works and what to look out for?’🤷‍♀️
Dec 03Reply
granowgang
granowgang I will no longer purchase on Poshmark due to Poshmark's inability to resolve this problem and help their loyal customers. I have lost over $300 due to these scammers. Poshmark has done nothing to help me or others. Shameful.
Dec 03Reply
botablu
botablu @abbycrawf Hi. Yeah, this was just a quick PSA re: Old Gringo’s in particular but I noted in the description we have a more in-depth posting on how to identify them on our page. Can tag you on it if you’re having trouble finding it.
Dec 03Reply
botablu
botablu @granowgang I’m sorry to hear it—on both accounts. It’s hurting everyone. Especially bad news for those of us who have built our small business on this platform. I’ve been screaming this from the rooftops to Posh for well over a year—that this was coming—& would be the destruction of this platform —& they did nothing. So here we are. There are obviously still many good, reputable sellers on here but just takes some due diligence to know who you’re buying from.
Dec 03Reply
botablu
botablu @granowgang If you do decide to go—I hope you will send Posh one more message telling them why. They need to be inundated with that same message from outraged customers. Maybe, just maybe, they’ll start to listen. 🤞🏻
Dec 03Reply
sharksluvme
sharksluvme @botablu it’s any brand that is popular in the $200-$500 range. Literally everything! For example I am looking for ski gear and the newest 8 listings for “perfect moment ski” brand are scammers. Jewelry is hacked too. I had someone message me about the doc marten market, it’s been taken over by scams. I think this platform has lost control. Good luck to all!
Dec 03Reply
botablu
botablu @sharksluvme Yes, it’s systematic at this point. They lost control a while ago. Again, had they listened to those of us who warned them it would become this, we would not be here having this discussion. Frankly, it’s quite infuriating.
Dec 03Reply
sharksluvme
sharksluvme @botablu it really is! I sell mainly my own stuff but for people who do this as a business it must be horrible. I used to love cruising posh and buying random stuff but now it’s too much work to figure out who is legitimate. Their customer service is horrendous and I feel like once they went public they don’t care. Their stock is tanking and this has to be contributing to that fact.
Dec 03Reply
littlepet
littlepet @sharksluvme my advice to you is to take the time to look at their profile and their reviews before buying Plus If something is too cheap and high brand There you have the first flag Just a kindly advise for you😊

Dec 05Reply

botablu @sharksluvme Agreed. It is horrendous. And as for their customer service—to be quite frank—it’s always been a nightmare. It’s been their number one complaint for as long as I can remember. And they’ve done nothing to improve it.

sharksluvme
sharksluvme @botablu I love the brand “Cult Gaia” and they have completely hijacked all listings. A pearl handbag sold 5 times yesterday all from the same scammer, there will be a lot of disappointed people this Christmas that probably won’t return to this platform. It’s every single premium brand!
Dec 06Reply
littlepet
littlepet @sharksluvme sad, 🥺but I don’t understand how do they work Because they get paid after 3 days that the Item it’s been delivered or accepted, otherwise they won’t get pay I’m sorry I don’t know how they work But please before making any purchase take a look at the account and the reviews of the seller I have several Old gringo products that’s why I got here Blessings to all of you🌸🌸🌸 Who wants a community safe and Thank you for every single effort to create awareness about this
Dec 08Reply
sharksluvme
sharksluvme @littlepet it happened to me, they white out the address on the shipping label on an empty envelope and ship to a random address in same zip code. It shows delivered and when it gets returned to sender the 3 days passes and the money is released and you have to fight Poshmark for a refund.
Dec 08Reply
littlepet
littlepet @sharksluvme unbelievable Last time I saw a LV bag very cheap and the photos looked so nice and I just wait and saw the user only one item for sale And that’s why I got scared and didn’t attempt to buy 😔thanks for letting me know 🥺sorry that happened to you😔
Dec 08Reply

Dec 08Reply
lesley1719
lesley1719 @botablu I sent them an email. It doesn’t seem like they do anything about it
Dec 08Reply
botablu
botablu @lesley1719 If you send them an email with the link to the account and photos of the account and listings, they will remove it… eventually. The problem is they’re inundated and haven’t come up with a good reporting system that puts these matters at the top of the priority list—where it belongs. By the time they remove the account, often many—if not all—items have sold.
Dec 09Reply
love031006
love031006 @sharksluvme thank you for explaining. I’ve seen a ton of these and reported but was wondering what the loop was so I could avoid it myself. I could see the red flags from afar
Dec 09Reply
lpawnee77
lpawnee77 I only purchase from poshers who have reviews and have multiple items for sale on their account, and show that they've actually shipped out their sales. Normally, you can tell bcuz their accounts (scammers) were just made, they have no pic and they usually are only selling one item or repeated items of the same thing for cheap.
Dec 09Reply
lpawnee77
lpawnee77 @littlepet that's my question too. they can't actually scam you bcuz Poshmark holds the money until item is delivered and accepted, then they release the funds. so how are scammers benefiting from trying to scam 🤔
Dec 09Reply
botablu
botablu @lpawnee77 Hi. @sharksluvme explained the process above. I believe at least some of the scammers have other MO’s and devious intentions as well. And many of the scammers do have photos—in fact, many are very professional photos. And they aren’t just selling the same item—often different items. As is noted above too, they’ve infiltrated about every brand. And not necessarily for cheap—although some are certainly underpriced below market value.

yaaya19
yaaya19 @botablu this is horrible! I can’t believe there’s scammers in this platform as well! Will you tag me as well? Thanks for your help!
Dec 15Reply
botablu
botablu @yaaya19 It’s horrible alright. Yes, will tag you. The latest scam—which I haven’t gotten to post about yet—just happened to us where a “customer” purchased a $545 pair of Old Gringo’s. We shipped them to Posh Headquarters and the sale was cancelled by Posh after they shipped. Took us a week of emails to get a response—which—reading between the lines—these “customers” aka scammers—are now purchasing with stollen credit cards & Posh is cancelling AFTER you ship. SELLERS BEWARE.
Dec 15Reply
georgiappeach
georgiappeach Hi, thank you for sharing. Would you plz LMK what to look out for? Is it just on OGs? I’m selling too many items in my closets. This is disheartening and wish Posh had better controls.
Dec 17Reply
botablu
botablu @georgiappeach Hi. You’re welcome. Sure. And for anyone else who’s trying to locate the other posting regarding what to look for, go to my closet—use the filter button—select “category”—then “women”—then “other.” It’s titled: “Advisory RE: Scammers”
Dec 17Reply
georgiappeach
georgiappeach Thank you! Does anyone on this thread use a “safer site” that’s good for clearing out closets?
Dec 17Reply
botablu
botablu @georgiappeach I hear many say they have more belief in—and better experiences on—other sites. However, in our experience, they all have their problems. Just comes down to which problems are the lesser evil for your particular business or situation. Some of us too, are more tied to enduring the “pain” because we’ve built our businesses and following on particular platforms. At least for now. 😁
Dec 17Reply
botablu
botablu @jrlexus01 Here’s another specifically on this brand but has good info in the comments above.
Dec 21Reply
1ellymay
1ellymay They did this on corral boots as well. For those of you wondering how it works, the item was shown as shipped and delivered. My local post office traced it, and they did indeed ship a tiny package to another address in my ZIP Code, so it showed as shipped and received. I then had to dispute with Poshmark.
Dec 27Reply
botablu
botablu @1ellymay Thanks for your comment. Yes, the scammer’s have listings in just about every category and brand. Although they do seem to target certain ones. We have more info on how to spot them and brands and categories they tend to target in another posting. But they are everywhere now—that’s for sure.
Dec 27Reply
richmondsrelics
richmondsrelics I’ve heard that scammers will list a designer bag but send the buyer a pair of socks or other cheap thing, but is Poshmark supposed to wait for the buyer to say the purchased item was received before releasing the money?
Dec 31Reply
richmondsrelics
richmondsrelics I wouldn’t purchase from anyone with only 1 or 2 listings.
Dec 31Reply
richmondsrelics

rocketsoxx2 Thanks for the info everyone. I recently purchased from Tradesy and when there were complications with shipping I was able to contact them directly and they were so helpful. Sadly I won’t be Posher any longer:(
Jan 02Reply
botablu
botablu @rocketsoxx2 You’re very welcome. Understand your choice of remedies but ultimately that’s just going to hurt us reputable sellers more than it’s going to hurt Posh. By their lack of action here—including not publicly disclosing this matter—it’s clear they could care less. My hope is that this outrage will turn into all of us—both customers and sellers—banning together to hold Posh accountable.

leorasmith
leorasmith I just purchased a pair of boots from a seller. Then she sent me a note saying this was a glitch and relisted the boots for more money. I filed with Poshmark. What do they typically do in this case?
Jan 05Reply
botablu
botablu @leorasmith Sorry to hear it. I would be surprised if Posh will do anything unfortunately. More reason—as we try to educate folks on—to buy from a trusted boot seller who won’t play games with their customers like that.
Jan 05Reply
leorasmith
leorasmith @botablu claudwhitt is a scammer. Poshmark said they are looking into it and she blocked me.
Jan 06Reply
botablu
botablu @leorasmith Omg. I just read her message to you that she “didn’t know how the app works” and didn’t realize that they “automatically sell at full offer price.” And that she just wanted to sell them for more so relisted them. Whaat?? Smh. Ridiculous. She’s a whole different kinda scammer. HA. Jesus. Again, buy from a trusted seller and that won’t happen. Interested to hear if Posh does anything.
Jan 06Reply
europeanfinds
europeanfinds That's so sad. I recently got scammed by a buyer that had good reviews and PM didn't do anything even though I have video recordings and a lot of pictures. It's crazy how many scammers are on PM.
Jan 06Reply
botablu
botablu @europeanfinds Yep. We’ve had that happen as well.
Jan 06Reply
mrzsanchez
mrzsanchez This is sad. If not Posh, what other buy/sell apps do you ladies recommend? Scammers everywhere but I’m worried more that Poshmark won’t stand by the buyers and protect us from lost money. If you see a scam please comment on that post of others to see (not sure if poster is able to delete comments but I hope not).
Jan 06Reply
botablu
botablu @mrzsanchez We comment on all we run across. The scammers just delete it and block us. All platforms have their downfalls for sure. Not the same scamming problem though. It’s gotten this bad because, again, Posh didn’t listen to us and others who were screaming from the rooftops when this began that they must take swift and immediate action.. They still have yet to even disclose this publicly.
Jan 06Reply
leorasmith
leorasmith @botablu Right?! Poshmark is “investigating”…funny how she figured out how to relist for more money.

1dayatatime020
1dayatatime020 (1st msg) @botablu I have my own experience to share! A few days ago I came back to Poshmark with the earnest effort to sell my things by consistently marking them down on a regular basis (i.e. every PM Party etc.) Well, while catching up on past Follows, Shares, and Likes on my Newsfeed I click on this one user and my whole computer froze up and I couldn't do anything but manually turn off my computer-wait a minute then turn it back on. Ever since then my computer has frozen regularly. . . .
Jan 07Reply
1dayatatime020
1dayatatime020 (2nd msg) @botablu . . . What I should have done is screenshot her profile to share with other but she (or whomever this is has probably changed their name, gender, and profile pic by now. Quick question to you how can one distinguish between a reputable user just starting out and one that is truly a scammer? All the best to you and Happy New Year!

mo__savings
mo__savings I've noticed scammers have also hijacked the Balenciaga Brand shoes, particularly the tennis shoes. They seem to have a penchant for this brand, among many others. One scammer had the nerve to randomly comment on one of my listings, claiming that it was stolen, it was priced too high, that his girlfriend's house looked better than mine, and a bunch of other stuff!! I ended up selling that particular item like a week later. They're so looney!!🤦🏾‍♀️
Jan 21Reply
butterbean_blue
butterbean_blue Same for Designer handbags in the $200 -$499 price range. It’s inundated with fake replica bags. Anything sold for $500 and over goes directly to PoshMark for Authentication, so these thieves stay under that threshold. The “Parties” are full of this trash. I’ve reported over and over, and all PoshMark ever says is they are investigating. I don’t share anything to “Parties” anymore.
Jan 23Reply
botablu
botablu @butterbean_blue I hear you. I usually run across them when they share my items. I went to one fraudulent account the other day who had about 15 listings or so—12 were sold to unsuspecting customers. The ones I was able to contact said they were in the process of fighting it with Posh. And many folks I’ve talked to said the accounts still remain active even AFTER these cases.
Jan 23Reply
botablu
botablu @butterbean_blue As I’ve said before, I believe at this point the only way to get Posh to take action is for all of us to stand together somehow to make Posh take action. I had someone suggest on IG for all sellers to do a “sit-in” protest of sorts were we all collectively stop selling for a few days. Gotta hit em in the pocketbook—where it counts—to get their attention. Love that idea. 😁❤️
Jan 23Reply
butterbean_blue
butterbean_blue @botablu I like that idea!!! There’s so many people selling here, it would take thousands of us organized together to make them take notice. Maybe that’s why they make it difficult to message.

casbc84
casbc84 This happened to me on Me-rca-ri. I bought an item & the seller mailed it to a house in my neighborhood almost 5-6 streets up. Werid thing is I had my office address which is across town as my shipping address & had to open a claim with Usps and Me-rca-ri. Usps was the one who alerted it was delivered to the house nearby my home & when I went to the house they said they sent it back return to sender. I got my money back thankfully & the seller ghosted me.
Jan 29Reply
botablu
botablu @beautyunseen84 Interesting to know it’s happening there too. Sorry that happened but thanks for sharing that. It seems like most folks think this stuff doesn’t happen there and seem very happy with that platform. We use to be.. but they’ve done a lot in the last few years to damage that platform—in our opinion. Now it sounds from your story, they have the exact same type scammers operating there too. Interesting.

luvmyboysx2
luvmyboysx2 @botablu my question is how did that first seller sell the same pair of boots 11 times ! LOL I know darn well she didn’t have 11 pair of the same ones LOL
Jan 30Reply
botablu
botablu @luvmyboysx2 These “sellers”/scammers don’t have any of these products. They’re listing items that either never existed—as is mostly the case with the high end bags, for example—or they are replica listings of actual items that have sold by reputable sellers.
Jan 30Reply
luvmyboysx2
luvmyboysx2 @botablu oh trust me I would never buy from a seller like this lol Especially when their profile shows the same item sold 11 times. My question is WHY do sites let this scamming continue to go on.

I made an accidental purchase once, asked the seller to refund my money hours later and she refused and blocked me. I reported it but nothing was handled. I thought I would try again to start an account again years later but I have very minimal listings now. you have to be cautious on this site

weitzlmt @botablu anyone try to go on Linked-In and gently harass Manish Chandra the co-founder of Poshmark? I say gently so you don’t get kicked off linked-in.
May 04Reply
weitzlmt
weitzlmt @botablu me too please. I can not find it and where do you find reviews of sellers?
May 04Reply
botablu
botablu @weitzlmt Hi. I’m going to add directions in the description here so everyone can find the other posting. And seller’s reviews—or should say, love notes only—are on their “About” page. A synopsis of the seller is also now under every listing when you open them and scroll to the bottom. Interesting update though: these scammers are now leaving fraudulent reviews for “each other.” 😬

the208
the208 I’m so sad yo hear all theses stories. I had such faith in the site and of it’s users. I’ve only not received one item, it was for $30. It appeared it was delivered but I never got it, I found it hard to believe that it had been taken from the place I was living, it’s such a safe neighborhood. This was so long before I knew of any scamming. Now I’m hesitant to buy anything.
May 10Reply
botablu
botablu @the208 These discussion are meant to educate and ultimately empower folks, so they can shop with confidence. Once we let these scammers instill fear, they’ve “won.” Again, as long as we all know what to look out for—and do our due diligence—as we would with any purchase, anywhere—to avoid those listings & accounts, check for substantive reviews, communicate with the sellers, & if still in doubt—ask the opinion of a trusted seller, alls good.😊
May 10Reply
nici_nini
nici_nini @the208 depending on if this was May of 2022 or last year, USPS lost a posh sale of mine. I was disappointed to not have something delivered to the buyer. So that’s also a possibility. I know my UPS struggles to employ people & that also can mean slower rates of mail movement. Sometimes people aren’t scammers. However this is about scammers but I’m just saying it could be lost in the mail like mine was.

ren43
ren43 I just reported about 5 accounts that were selling Kendra Scott jewelry all for the same price for each piece. Things just didn’t add up. I take pictures of their item and/or account and then check back a day or two later. It is so satisfying when you see all of their listings were removed.
Jun 15Reply
botablu
botablu @lstagner43 Good to hear they’re getting removed from you reporting them. Are you emailing Posh or clicking the report button? And are they just removing the listings or the entire accounts?
Jun 15Reply
ren43
ren43 @botablu, just reporting mostly. Just the listings - not sure why they don’t do the whole account.
Jun 15Reply
botablu
botablu @lstagner43 They don’t remove the entire account because it sounds like you’re only reporting a/some listing(s). You’d have to report the account itself to get them to remove it. But still unclear how you’re reporting: are you clicking the report button on the listing itself? I’m curious because I’ve never seen that be effective. If it is effective, then something has changed and would like to know that.
Jun 15Reply
ren43
ren43 @botablu I do both because I’m not sure which may be more effective. I also report several of the categories, i.e. replica, spam. That’s the way I’ve been doing it. Now the one that bugs me and doesn’t get removed or changed is the mistagged brand (and the seller blatantly states they’ve put that particular brand name “for exposure”). I just keep reporting it under several of the reporting categories.

trelani @sharksluvme Omg!! Same thing happen to me last year. I did report it to poshmark over 4 times via email before I final got a response. So they’re aware of it. An empty little plastic bag was shipped to another neighbor in my zip code not to me? I was able to piece together the scam with the help of my regular mailman. He told me what they do and because he has witnessed it before. I am not as eager to shop on this site and if I do it’s no longer big purchases. Sad it’s so out of control
Aug 08Reply
botablu
botablu @trelani While I’m very sorry to hear this happened to you, just as on the largest selling platforms in the world, it’s essential to do your due diligence to research the particular seller who you’d be purchasing from. And here in particular, there’s very simple ways to ensure you’re purchasing from reputable sellers. To stop purchasing here as a whole, is only ultimately hurting the reputable small businesses and actually giving these scammers “a win.”
Aug 08Reply

sharksluvme
sharksluvme @trelani it has gotten better for sure, I never buy from a new seller with multiples of same “too good to be true prices” item. 🤗
Aug 08Reply
trelani
trelani @sharksluvme Same here, that’s the crazy thing is the price point of what I purchased was correct. I always do my research on the item I’m looking for before making the purchase. The only reason why I purchased on poshmark before the Saks Fifth Ave site was the delivery date. I wanted the item before an upcoming trip. Seller showed same day delivery. Wishing everyone the best! Happy Shopping!
Aug 08Reply
botablu
botablu @trelani Thanks very much. And good to hear! I was responding to your comment that you are not as eager to shop here and if you do, it’s not larger purchases. Also, as for shipping/delivery… when it says “same day” that’s referring to how quickly a seller ships—not the delivery date. There’s only one speed of shipping that Posh offers and that’s USPS Priority Mail. When it comes to determining if someone is a scammer, that info isn’t useful—as they often check “same day.”

jimcherrix @sharksluvme I've tried a few other platforms and I hate to say that Poshmark is about the best. I joined Tradesy for my luxury items and managed to get 3 or 4 listed and 1 sold before they joined to Vestair. I don't understand it, but Vestair wants your photos taken a certain way, in a certain order - and I believe it's not the order I want to grab my buyer's attention. They actually denied the listing of 2 pair of Versace jeans 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️

firebug36 Thank you so much for providing such valuable information. I purchase a lot from Poshmark & other sites. The scammers, invalid listings, & seller cancellations are out of control. There truly must be better security, aggressive monitoring, & screening application for all who sell on websites. Please keep us advised. Maybe, our concerns will eventually be taken seriously. These sites will end up blacklisted, or removed due their failure to address fraud or allowing it to continue.

debscloset4u @cgrish_york is the scammer that just did this to me. I purchased a pair of OLD GRINGO BOOTS, after a month of "lost in transit" and tracking it all over the place, I filed a report with the Post Office because Poshmark kept telling me to wait and wait because the package was "tracking". The SELLER @cgrish_york, blocked me so I can no longer talk to her about it. Seriously. I got a call from my local post office because of the report I filed and they said the package was with them (continued
Jan 25Reply
debscloset4u
debscloset4u continued....I went to the post office, I opened the box in FRONT of them because it seemed so light. Well, guess what?? There was only ONE boot in the package. Poshmark has refunded my money, but they also let the seller @cgrish_york, keep their money. I reported it. Not sure what can be done about it, but I would NEVER purchase anything from this posher again.

jimcherrix
jimcherrix First set up an email to Poshmark's customer support, be sure to include a copy to yourself and - extremely important -- Make sure you send a copy to ceo@poshmark.com. You'll get your problem handled ASAP. It may not come out with the answer you wanted but, just as all prayers are answered, sometimes the answer is no. Best wishes and Happy Poshing

refound4you
refound4you I’m so happy to see somebody else alerting people. I have a ‘scammer alert’ in my closet regarding the luxury handbag and jewelry category. Please go to my closet and share mine also. I have reported hundreds of these closets and items to (Poshmark), they delete the closet immediately, and the very next day I find them all over again. This is a huge problem on this platform that (Poshmark) doesn’t seem to do anything about stopping. I am so frustrated. Why don’t they care?
May 18Reply
botablu
botablu @refound4you This particular scam they finally, actually, did something about. And things have improved. But only after probably tens of thousands got scammed. And they/we who sell here, lost droves of customers. Unfortunately though, as is par for the course, tons of other types of scams have popped up in their place. If you’re specifically referring to allowing counterfeit items to be sold, I think the answer is simple: money.
May 18Reply
refound4you
refound4you @botablu the ‘Chinese Baby Scammer’ has over 60 closets. They try to pull people off (Poshmark) by misspelling the app name a few different ways to get past Poshmark. Grrrr. I think you’re right I have been sharing this thing like crazy and not a single person seems to be seeing it. God that’s annoying. I went to customer support asking them to please stop restricting my listing because I’m trying to educate the people that are being ripped off on their site. my efforts are just wasted.

thisismolly How can I tell of a pair of Old Gringos is legit? Are there any obvious differences I’m missing? I found a pair for $200 and stil can’t believe it. Thanks.
Sep 18Reply
botablu
botablu @thisismolly Yes, seeing more out there so be careful. Most are very obvious that they’re not Old Gringo’s—they lack “Old Gringo” markings and are clearly very cheaply made. The bigger issue is the sellers representing them as such. As we have and will always suggest: purchase from trusted, reputable boot sellers and you’ll never have to second guess.

Oct 01Reply
botablu
botablu @brizepeda1 Hi. Apologies that we missed your message. This is mostly geared towards identifying scammers accounts that sell, not customers who are purchasing. As long as a payment goes through, which is up to Poshmark to validate, it doesn’t really matter too much what your account looks like. But, as with both buyer’s or seller’s accounts, of course it helps to have a track record and as a customer, one way you can build that is upon purchasing and leaving solid reviews.

amyja9288 hi all! I'm new to buying from Poshmark and I think I've already seen scammer comments on some people's items,.like it says something to the effect of " hi, I can't see the pictures good on my phone. can you text them to me at whatever number they use and then it says I will pay immediately or something along those lines. losing ANY amount of money sucks. is it safe to say that Poshmark is prob among the safest platform?
Jan 13Reply
botablu
botablu @amyja9288 Hi. Welcome! Yes, those are scammers posting that stuff. And no, I unfortunately wouldn’t say that. If you’re vigilant about who you purchase from then you’ll stay fairly safe. But unfortunately some very large “reputable” sellers, here and everywhere, aren’t so reputable either. We just posted a new Frye boot warning which has some additional educational information as well—much of what can be broadly applied.
