An authentic shiny 1943 Mercury Head Dime, in excellent condition, crowns this new silver-tone tie tack. Tie-tack is classy, but a subtle statement in fashion. This tie tack is a great choice for a person who is interested in numismatics, vintage items, or just looking his best. Commonly called a Mercury Head dime, it was struck by the United States Mint from late 1916 through 1945. Designed by Adolph Weinman, the dime is correctly referred to as the Winged Liberty Head dime. It became known as the Mercury Head dime because of the obverse depiction of a young Liberty, identifiable by her winged Phrygian cap which became confused with the Roman god Mercury.
